Disney: It's For Adults, Too! (finally booked!!!)

Sounds like a good plan so far. As long as you get through your most important to-do's the rest can be worked out. It's like I have said before...you can go to Disney World many times and never have the same trip twice!

I am glad to hear that it has been raining (although flooding is no fun either) and glad your back on here posting your updates!

Yeah, you're less likely to be let down if you aim low! Chances are we'll be able to FAR surpass our must-dos. But just in case, low expectations!

I'm glad to be back here as well! Been trying to catch up on things. I think yours is the only PTR/TR I've been keeping up with because it's always on the first page when I log on :rotfl:
And short updates mean I can read it and respond swiftly. Finally caught up on things!

It also seems like the more I update this, the slower time goes by... but we're to the fun part of the plans so it's exciting at least!

DAY 2

images

My mom is most excited for Animal Kingdom so I wanted to put this in the beginning of the trip. After I planned on this day for AK I also found out it was the recommended park for this day, anyways! Win, win! It's a 6 out of ten but the other parks are over 9! :faint:
Even though Animal Kingdom is one of my favorite parks, I always finish it at 1 or 2.

We want to try and get to the park pretty close to open and then we'll head straight for the Safari! We'll ride and then get a FP for later. I LOVE this ride and wish it lasted longer. We'll probably ride it at least 3 times depending on wait times!
images

Then we'll head straight to Everest. Hopefully there's a bit of a line because I love to look at all the artifacts and decorations in the line, but we can always ride it again with a wait later! It's the only ride I actually like having a line! I think my mom will LOVE it but not want to ride it again. That's my prediction!
images

Next comes DINOSAUR! I've never made it through this ride with my eyes open :scared: My mom doesn't understand why I want to ride it so bad if I close my eyes the whole time but I LOVE it.
images

At this point we'll be done with rides except for re-riding. I hate spinning (so no primeval whirl) and I hate being wet in regular clothes (so no Kali River).
It's JUNGLE TREK TIME!
images

And then the other animal trail (whatever it's called)
And we want to see the Lion King show! I've never seen it before but I hear good things!

I think Lunch will be at Flame Tree. I had Pizzafari last time and we didn't eat there the first time I went. There's something about crappy Disney pizza that I just LOVE so I'll have to get it some other place. But Flame Tree looks too delicious not to try
images

And of course we'll have to swing by the Dawa Bar for one of these puppies
images

At this point I'm thinking it's around 1 or 2. Our next plans involve either relaxing by the pool or DTD. Depending. MK has evening EMH until 1AM this night and we want to try and stay there fairly late! I love MK at night time and I'm hoping between 11 and 1, the lines get short!

And dinner is...MY FAVORITE PLACE IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD! At 6:15, we will be enjoying the bland and not the best food in the world at TONY'S!
images

I LOVE mediocre Italian food. LOVE IT. And my favorite Disney movie? Lady and the Tramp. I love this place. I always get Spaghetti and Meatballs. Always. But maybe I'll shake it up this time! We'll see ::yes::
images

After dinner it's straight to Space Mountain for some fast passes.
Then Monsters Inc. and the People Mover! And maybe Buzz if the line is short.
Then we'll ride whatever is short! So probable this over and over:
images

Wishes is at 10 this night and it's a MUST SEE for us because it might be our only chance to see it! It's the best thing in the world.

Our MUST DOs for today:
-Kilimanjaro Safari more than once
-Everest
-Dinosaur
-RIBS
-Wishes

I hate that this is necessary AGAIN this summer, but Colorado needs prayers again after this shooting.
Breaks my heart.

An aspiring sports journalist that was a correspondent for my Avs was one of the 12 victims so far.

It's been a rough summer :(

I thought of you this morning and asked BDL if he thought you were ok. It is horrible what happened but I am glad that you posted so we all know you're OK.

Hang in there!!

Thanks for thinking of me!
Yesterday was ROUGH. I drive ten hours a day and couldn't draw myself away from the coverage. And since I was working I spent the entire day trying not to cry. I don't know if you've ever attempted not to cry for that long but it is EXHAUSTING.

70 people were shot. 12 dead including a 6 year old and several service men. And 8ish still in critical condition (according to my DH, one of those criticals died this morning but it's not being reported so I'll refrain from stating it as fact. It was a Red Robin employee and that's where Casey works. They had EIGHT employees shot, not just there, but shot. So they were asking people from his store to go up there and help cover).

Maybe I'm being selfish but I just feel like our community has been through enough this summer.

Ready to get back on the Disney boat!
We found out free dining starts the day after we arrive  but the trip is totally paid off and I'm $200 away from my goal for food/drink/souvenir. Almost there!

It's not being selfish by saying you all have been through enough. And when something tragic like this...a national tragedy....hits so close to home, it is understandable that you would be worn out. Sad thing is, before more details came out yesterday (just the gas being released before the shooting was known) I had said to someone at work that it sounded like something out of a Batman movie and maybe the kid was delusional (besides the obvious reason). It is truly horrible and I am sorry it hit so close to you personally!

That stinks about the free dining. It's not even being offered during our stay (or it starts like 2 days after we get there). BDL did the math and with the park ticket increases, we wouldn't be saving that much so we're keeping things as is. Spending more on this trip than the last one he surprised me with, but it is all totally worth it. Now as long as the CBA doesn't screw up hockey this season, it will be a great December!

Don't get me started on the CBA  At least Denver got a CHL team this year so there's something to go to if there is a lock-out. I just can't see either side being stupid enough to miss games AGAIN after it deflated hockey's popularity so bad last time. Training camp is only like, a month and a half away. I'm going to keep trucking and being excited for training camp and just hope it actually happens! :rotfl2:

Great Day 1 and 2 plans! Haha, so funny that you love mediocre Italian food! :rotfl: Tony's is so pretty, I wish the food was just a little better!

I can't believe what happened in Colorado, such a horrible, pointless tragedy. Praying for all of the families and victims. :goodvibes I'm glad you have this Disney trip to look forward to after such a rough summer!

Loving your PTR so far! My DBF and I brew beer also! My trip is so far away that I'm getting my fix through posts on here =] Looking forward to seeing more of your plans.

We kind of had another rough day yesterday. I don't want to turn this thing into a depressing thread but if I don't write it some where it will stay in my head and keep keeping me awake all night!
So I don't know how much news you guys get about the victims out of state. I know here, it's impossible to avoid the news. One of the victims that really stood out to me was Alex Sullivan. It was his birthday and he tweeted how excited he was and how it was going to be the "best birthday ever". Well, yesterday was his one year wedding anniversary and with my first anniversary coming up in two weeks I just couldn't help thinking about how I'd feel if Casey died two days before it.
Yesterday we found out that this particular victim was the Red Robin employee we found out died.

Casey got the call to go help at the Aurora Red Robin yesterday and it was rough stuff. Waitresses would just randomly start bawling and he had to serve some regulars. One group thought only one girl was shot, not 8 with one dead. With them being confused by all the new people, he had to break the news of the extent of their tragedy.

He got through the day with smiles on and donated all his tips from that shift to a trust for Alex's family. I'm proud of him for that.

Also wanted to give my community props. Denver isn't that big of a city and the metro-area just kind of melts together. After Columbine, all the police units in the area were re-trained to handle these situations. Cops were on the scene in 90 SECONDS! And they also successfully neutralized the ****y-trapped apartment. In Fort Collins, an hour and a half from Aurora, cops lined the streets in 100 degree heat just collecting money for the victims. Atthe time there wasn't a trusted place to donate so they knew only cops would be able to be trusted with the money. You can't give blood until next week because so many people rushed to the blood places, all their appointments filled up.
It really is an excellent place to live despite three shootings in the last 13 years.

Just wanted to get all that off my chest. Thanks for listening guys

Olive Garden is one of my favorite restaurants :rotfl2: In the dining reviews section, they give the Italian restaurants bad reviews and compare it to Olive Garden. I'm like "PERFECT!" Lol.

SO glad I have Disney. I've been watching a lot of Disney movies to make me happy :) And me and my mom have been avoiding the topic of conversation of the shooting by talking about our Disney trip.

Loving your PTR so far! My DBF and I brew beer also! My trip is so far away that I'm getting my fix through posts on here =] Looking forward to seeing more of your plans.

Thanks for reading along! I'm a fan of any fan of beer! :drinking1

Day 3
images

Now, I'm already worried about the plans for this day. I just don't know how I'm going to get the things done that I want to. My mom said "NO UPSIDE DOWN" so I made no plans for RnRC. Now all of a sudden she wants to try it :lmao:

Since we want to stay up for some EMH at MK we decided to sleep in this day!
We're going to take the POR boat to downtown Disney in the morning. Knowing us we'll probably wake up around 9ish. And then we have a reservation for lunch at Raglan Road! I'm SO looking forward to this reservation. The menu looks fantastic. And not to mention the beer selection is probably the best on Disney property. :hyper:

We'll start the meal out with these babies
images

Crab spring rolls! I think I saw this in one of Queen's TRs. Someone ordered it. Ever since I'm been wanting to try these real bad!
For the main course I'm getting the lobster sandwich thing I read about. now I just have to sit and hope they don't screw up the menu between now and my trip! :rotfl: You know they will...

After lunch we're heading over to DHS. Now, originally, our DHS must-do list was just Muppets, TOT, Star Tours. Totally do-able with an afternoon arrival and the couple hours between arriving and dinner (dinner is at 7:05 and the park closes at 8).
Well, NOW my mom really wants to do RnRC. So I have to figure out how to fit it TWO headliners in a small amount of time. Not to mention, my mom is petrified of roller coasters so I doubt she'll be cool with doing the single rider line.

I think we'll have to first head straight to RnRC for a FP. Hopefully the return time is doable with dinner. If not, we might have to skip it or wait in a long line :(
Next ToT. Now, I've been on days where the wait never exceeds 20 minutes. I've also accidentally waited over an hour. HOPEFULLY we'll be able to ride stand-by with little to no wait because this is one of my favorite rides in the world. If not, I'd rather have ToT FPs than RnRC. So we may have to make a tough decision. Luckily I bought the touring plans App so hopefully we'll be able to figure this out without wasting too much time and energy!

images

(I secretly LOVE this movie...may have to buy a copy while I'm there! I think I remember them selling them!)

After that we want to ride Star Tours, Muppets, Great Movie ride (first thing to go if we have no time) and I really want to go to One Man's Dream. Weep fest for me. I think my mom would really enjoy it.

I LOVE Star Tours so if we can only do one it will definitely be that. Hopefully the lines are manageable. The crowd level is only a 5 and it's the recommended park. Hoping for some luck here. It's the only day I'm worried about getting our must-dos done at :faint:
images

:rotfl2:

If we have time, we also want to stop in 50's Prime Time for a quick drink at the bar! I didn't want to eat there for the third trip in a row but the restaurant is identical to my grandma's house so my mom's gotta see it.
images

We have reservations for Sci-Fi at 7:05PM. I'm mostly excited about the alcoholic milk shakes here. They sound DELECTABLE. I'm getting the monkey one (chocolate milk shake, banana liquor, coconut liquor, rum). So yummy sounding! I also having been eyeing the spinach and artichoke dip

images

After we're done here the park will be closed at we'll have to make our way back to the resort! Pool time? River Roost? Sleep? We'll just have to see how we feel!

We watched all the coverage we could get here which was CNN...our hearts our with you! Alex Sullivan stands out to me too for the exact reasons you posted. It's so important we remember the victims and not the shooter! Thinking of you everyday:hug:

Everyday we here more and more amazing stories of people saving others' lives. It makes it a little easier to put a smile on and remember the good people here and not just the bad.
There was another story of a man getting shot in both legs, two 15 year old girls drug him out and put their belts on his legs to stop the blood loss. FIFTEEN. When I was 15 I don't think I would have had the mental capacity to stay calm and save lives in situations like that. So many great people in Colorado that it just sucks that people just think of us for Columbine and this.

Christian Bale also came out today and spent time with a lot of the victims and went to the make-shift memorial. He seems pretty affected by it. But everyone really appreciated it!

Now we just have to get through all the court drama and learning more about him and then maybe the victims and our community can get some closure :grouphug:

Well, it looks like we're going to miss the Fantasy Land Expansion opening by about a week
Here's to hoping a bunch of people push their trips back a week so they don't miss it and we have super low crowds :confused3

We just got back from a weekend in the mountains celebrating our 1 year anniversary! I was so excited about it that we had like, a two week period where I wasn't thinking about Disney! Makes time go by that much faster. And we're going camping next week and training camp for hockey starts in September. Time is going by so fast, I love it! The trip is just around the corner I feel like!

I started planning on the gift bag to get my mom. I'm going to sneak into their house and leave it by the garage door to surprise her when we're exactly a month away. I couldn't find ANY cute Disney gift bags or wrapping paper so I'm wrapping everything in red with white polka dots and then I'm going to make a bag to put it all in!
I'm going to paint a paper grocery sack black and then add construction paper ears to the top and then do the bottom half red with the two yellow circles so it's like Mickey! Hopefully I can pull that off.
I'm going to get her these (she doesn't have many pajamas!)
4919103901077

and some cute Disney soap.
and I ordered the customized maps.
I was going to get her some cute Disney scrapbooking stuff but we went together and got a bunch and then I realized that my idea was gone!
I might get her a stuffed animal or something. I can't really think of anything else.

Aaaaaaand...it's my FIRST ADR CHANGE OF THE PLANNING PHASE!

I was sitting here looking at food porn and thinking "I really don't have enough Epcot time!" Especially because most of it will be food and wine time. So the day I have planned to visit the monorail resorts and eat at Kona I decided to cancel.
We'll still be at MK in the morning with a late lunch at the Grand Floridian Cafe. And we'll still go around to the resorts and get cocktails and such but instead of sticking around and eating at Kona and having hours of time for something that takes two, we'll be going to EPCOT and eating at Via Napoli! Every TR I've been lurking through has great reviews and pictures and I want it!

Kona's menu didn't look that great to me. I don't really like the flavors of that region but I liked the appetizer menu and Lapu Lapus. But I want some of that pizza real bad

OH and I forgot

Congrats on the time remaining (I know it's less now).

Also, I can't blame you for switching out Kona. Granted, the breakfast there is THE best non-character/menu breakfast in all of WDW. But the lunch/dinner menu doesn't look too much like the "go out of my way sort."

You made a good choice in my opinion....I would hands down take Via Napoli for dinner or lunch over Kona! I do, however, love Kona for breakfast!

Kona fit in really well with our plans for the evening (monorail resort touring). And we were going to watch wishes from the beach afterwards.
But then I decided there was just not enough Epcot and I had been looking for a way to fit Via Napoli in anyways because of all the food porn!

79 DAYS!
I can't WAIT for September. Hockey training camps take up a good week and then the season starts to take up time that I would normally be thinking about Disney so it all goes faster. And september=fall which is the same season as early November! I'm almost in the same season as we're leaving!
I also bought the countdown app for my Iphone today. So I can know how many days are left without having to log onto disney's slooooww site.

Also, I was hoping you all could help me with some questions. First, we're going over my mom's b-day but mine is two days after we leave. Should we get pins for both of us or just my mom? I kind of want one but I also feel weird wearing a b-day pin when it's not my actual birthday! But then again, some people wear pins when their bdays are in other months. Opinions?

Also, I wanted to pre-order the photopass but I have no idea how to do that. I went to the website and it wasn't clear. It just kept telling me I needed a photopass number already? anyone know how to do this?
I also may just ask them to take pictures with our own cameras. Haven't decided yet

I say get the pin. Even if you don't wear it there (which would be acceptable anyways given how close your birthday is) you can wear it when you get home :) The only thing I would say is don't wear the pin on the same day as your mom. That way her day is her day, and you can have your day the next day.

As for the photopass, maybe BDL can help you with that. I believe he has pre-ordered a pass for us, but I am not sure what it entails or how he went about it.
