How do you get over the disney itch. I dont have any plans on going in the next year but every time I see something about disney, I want to just book a trip!

I have it right now as well. My next trip is for Fall of 2013 but I have an AP that expires in October of this year and it just MAKES SENSE to use it one more time (I've only broken even with what I've paid with it going twice so far)... DH called me crazy this morning :sad1: He said if I go everyone will think I'm crazy and that he's crazy for letting me go again. Ugh...

I do something fun that has nothing to do with Disney. We read or watch Harry Potter, for instance, or play a game that has nothing to do with the series. I look at other possible vacations that I know are closer and cheaper (in our case, the shore or Williamsburg, VA).

I don't:rotfl: I scratch it all the time:rotfl:

We've got annual passes now so we go twice a year and try to get 3 trips out of them. We got them in April for that trip, we're going in August, and then we'll go for our trip in 2013 in February when we have time off to use them one more time.
After that we're going to take a break and vacation elsewhere for awhile. We'll see how that goes:rolleyes1

I think we have the same rash!! I have the itch bad... We're not going until Oct 2013 so I'm trying to keep my mind off of WDW. So far it's not working very well.

We go every year, so I'm usually either planning a trip or coming back from one.

2012 is the first year in MANY that we are not going. It's too hard with the pregnancy and then of course with a newborn, it's just not happening this year. Obviously I'm ok with that because this child is worth it!

We'll be taking her for her first trip October 2013. Once she is born and we are able to book I'll feel a bit of relief. But right now, I'm itching so bad!

We have the Disney itch too! We were just there in October and can't really see it in our budget for another two years. We keep getting pins weekly and evertime I look at our pictures, it gets worse! I am thinking...What can I sell so we can go again?" Watching the Dis coverage of Cars Land makes me want to try California.

These years when the kids believe are so limited. It's priceless to see my DD interact with the characters. As a child I would watch Walt Disney on TV and wish I was there. Now as an adult I just can't get enough! I've been to the planning site a few times this week.:cool1:

Dont fight the urge!!!!:goodvibes

LOL! It's been 3 years (holy cow) since my last trip. We were supposed to go last year, but my sis & family hadn't saved the $$ up and I was pregnant so we postponed.

Now myself, mom and sis are talking about taking the kids in a year. Mom and I are going with my son no matter what. Sis may end up divorced if her DH says no. lol She's been saving money for it for a while now. We love our hubbies, but they don't get excited about Disney like we do. So we think we should spare them the trouble and go ourselves :)

In the meantime I read PTRs, tips, etc and plan for that trip that seems oh so far away.

There is no cure for me at least. The only thing that works is having a trip planned. When I was married, we would go at least once up to 3 times a year (normally twice). Since then, I've still managed a trip every year, but this year was up in the air for awhile. I literally felt like I couldn't take it anymore and decided to go..no matter what I had to do, what I had to give up or whatever..I was going. SOOOOOOOOOO glad I decided to!! My entire outlook, mood and demeanor has changed for the better, and I wake up with anticipation every morning. :goodvibes

Here are some of the things we like doing:

1. Always have something planned. Whether it be a day trip or weekend trip somewhere, it always helps to know that we have a fun family day or trip planned. If I have the Disney itch but know we can't go, I can at least say, well we have this coming up next month or this weekend.

2. Search online and try to replicate some of your favorite disney food items at home. We've made soups, mickey carmel apples, and a few other goodies. I've seen other people say they've replicated The Kitchen Sink, zebra domes, fudge, etc. You could also do mickey shaped food, like mickey shaped pancakes, mickey shaped cookies, a mickey shaped cake, or mickey shaped pizza.

3. Go through all of your pictures and make a scrapbook. It's a great way to relive the moment and a fun project. If you have kids, they can also help pick the supplies and help put it together.

4. Have a Disney movie night. Pop in your favorite Disney movie, make some popcorn and relax.

5. Search for quotes from Disney movies that are relevant to your life and make a daily calendar from those quotes, or post a new one daily/weekly on your facebook page, twitter, or blog.

6. Visit a Disney store, or shop online at Disneystore.com. It's a great way to see some of the park merchandise and get a quick Disney fix.

7. Watch videos of the rides, fireworks, and shows on you tube.

8. Listen to Disney music. You can listen to movie soundtracks or park music. On days when it's really hard for me to focus on work, I usually stream some Disney park music and it helps change my mood and reminds me where my extra money is most likely going...;)

9. Start planning another Disney trip. Even if it's years off, you can always start finding ways to save for the trip, read trip reports, resort/hotel reviews and restaraunt reviews. That way, when the time comes, you're prepared!

I'm also super itchy!! :rotfl: My DH wants to wait a bit before going back...and we may head to Disneyland around christmas, but that's not definite yet. I'm just trying to keep calm and look at my Disney pictures to hopefully satisfy me for a while.

We just got back 2 weeks ago and guess what? Have that Itch as well. Also have annual passes that expire inn October. Right now (God willing) we'll be returning the first two weeks of October but could go sooner. (L)

I keep looking at the WDW App. on my Itouch...wait lines, etc. Makes me feel better. (L) Silly us !

We bought AP's in Dec with the thought of going again in Oct, well the Oct Disney trip has turned into a Hawaii wedding (with a quick stop at DL of course!) but I am still trying to sneak a long weekend in before then- I have to at least TRY and get my money's worth out of those AP's :lmao:

And it really doesn't help that I only get to go every three years or so!

I also can't figure out if coming to the Disboards every day is helpful or not! I can't keep away but then it also is frustrating at times too! Ugg!

I am one that makes plans on paper and in my head just to help me. I often price out actual trips online, comparing the resorts that I might actually book to my fantasy dream resorts. I also read over the menus of the restaurants too!

Hopefully, I will get to go back either in 21013 or 2014.

You can relocate to Orlando, FL and apply for a position to be part of the Disney crew! But, that's just practically speaking. As AntePrincess mentioned, watch a non-Disney film or do something that's not relevant to Disney. Good luck with the itch!
