Disney is different now

Totally serious. Sorry. I'm not ridiculous, that's just my opinion. Look, I don't know you at all and I don't have anything invested in your situation. If you got a filthy room, you're right to be upset. I'm saying, that without being there and seeing that I can't really say whether or not I think unacceptable things happened. I'm not calling you a liar, I'm just skeptical.

wow...just wow

I have noticed a decline in customer service, EVERYWHERE, not just in WDW. Had a ridiculous experience at Macy's the other day. Best Buy is notorious for bad customer service...after my last trip there, I just won't go again. Restaurants, car rental agencies, stores, etc,etc...it is just becoming a different world. And it's kinda sad. :sad2:

Once again, FP+ has worked perfectly. And no one else here is *****ing about it

Wow what was the crowd level today? You must have spent the day talking to all the people to know for sure nobody else there was *****ing about it. I'm amazed you made your FP+ times :thumbsup2

wow...just wow

That got a wow...just wow response? :rotfl2: Because i was honest and just don't believe completely something a stranger on a message board says?:rotfl2:

Cheese and rice, people.

Here's how my thought process goes.

Random person posts something on the Internet. Her room was filthy. I feel slightly bad that she had issues on her trip, but I don't give too much thought to it. Wasn't there, didn't see what happened, etc. That's pretty much how I run my life.

If, two weeks later, a different random person posts the same situation at the same resort. Now, I'm wondering if there's a housekeeping problem. I decide that I probably won't make a reservation there as I think once is just probably random bad luck, but the same situation twice starts to not just be random.

And then, if three weeks later, another random person posts the same problem. I agree that Disney is having serious problems at that resort, at the very least, and keep my eyes open to see if other people are reporting similar problems at other resorts. I would then agree that Disney is, at the very least, having some major housekeeping issues.

“Dirty rooms”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 weeks ago
We have stayed at this resort two prior times and had a great experience. On feb of 2014 we arrived a we're told our rooms were not ready, but they would text when ready. We decided to go to the park and later we received a text w our room numbers (we had two rooms). Using the magic bands we didn't have to go to the front desk. We arrived at the rooms late and tired. We unloaded and went into the room and found vomit on a chair, blood and urine on the toilet, hair, trash under the bed. We called housekeeping and since it was Super Bowl Sunday about 20 min later a housekeeper showed up w just a trash bag. We told her the rooms needed a full cleaning. After 30 more minutes another housekeeper showed up w towels and trash bags no cleaning products. I sent my wife to the front desk to be the "good cop" before I needed to get involved. We had push back on the rooms being dirty and were told they didn't have any other rooms. After some "extensive discussion" they finally gave in and moved us to the animal kingdom resort. No one ever appologized at riverside ( this would have made a huge difference in our experience). Apparently they have decided to let this resort run down and not matained to the disney standard. Animal kingdom resort lived up to the Disney standard and is well worth spending the extra money for. They gave us a $75 credit for a $5,000 vacation.

Nasty. Hair and dust is one thing...bodily fluids is on a whole other level. What in the world happened in that room?!?!?

Glad to see that Disney made good on it though.

Jeez I'm a supposed Disney hater but even I wouldn't take time out of my vacation to go on the DIS and argue with people about the current state of the parks. Since they're so awesome, what the heck are you wasting your time for here??

I just don't understand why so many people get upset when someone posts anything less than pixie dust fantastic on the Disney Disboards. It is becoming too common for others to question everything about the post and the op themselves. Must be a lot of shareholders on here.

Once, or maybe even a few times, I agree. That is not what is happening right now on the Dis. Every thread is taken over by the same crowd, who repeat the same mantra.

If you think that this is helping any cause, you are wrong.

Port Orleans Room Review on Trip Advisor from 2 weeks ago. Someone up there needs to realize that this stuff DOES happen.

It absolutely does ::yes::

The bottom line is, for the majority of us, two things go a long way to make good:

1) An apology. We are so sorry. We messed up so ...
2) Let's make it right.

When you take a problem to the front desk or anywhere else to be addressed most of the time all we want is for someone to acknowledge the problem (not make you feel like you are making a big deal out of nothing!) and to do something to rectify the situation.

I don't think that's asking for too much and the folk on here who are voicing their dissatisfaction did not get that. That would not be ok by me. So I don't expect it to be ok with them.

I don't think that WDW patrons who are unhappy should be understanding. I think that they should vote with their feet. But I really don't feel bad for Dis posters who knew that this change was happening, went anyway, and were less than thrilled with their experience.

I took my chances when I went in January. I knew of the changes. Had that trip gone as I expected, it would probably have been our last trip. But I would not have blamed Disney for my bad experience. I would simply have accepted that WDW was moving in a different direction and made a choice.

I would also have posted my displeasure on this board. But, since my trip was 6 weeks ago, I hope that I would be over it by now and happily planning my next vacation - wherever that might be. :goodvibes

Wow. That's rich.

Hey, I went to XXXXX Resort and had a great time!

"You can have that inferior place. Disney is MAGIC!!!!" :snooty:

I just got back from Walt Disney World, there were lots of quality problems in the parks and resorts! Where's the Magic?!?!"

"I make my own Magic at WDW. The Magic is what you make of it!!!"

I hear ya. :) But really, I've been on here since 1999 and it was happening then too. I guess it's human nature. I've always said, I think Disney is a fantastic and very magical place. Do things get screwed up though, even there? Yep. Do I think ALL of WDW is going to a piece of crap? no. I DO think it's a little different from my first trip compared to my last(not in a good way). I'm hoping it's not a trend. Overall, I think WDW is still a wonderful vacation. I just refuse to drink the Kool-Aid. ;)

YES!! I agree 100% with everything you said. Thank you!

Same. I believe that this stuff is happening, and I want things to get better. If not better than they have always been.

And maybe, just maybe, when they decide to spend $500 million on infrastructure, not attractions, again, they'll think "maybe we shouldn't spend $17 million on new door locks -- maybe we should expand everyone's favourite attraction instead, because that would make our guests happier"

It absolutely does ::yes::

this...all of this :thumbsup2 And I think how they address issues is sometimes more important than the fact that sometimes rooms get skipped, or less experienced mousekeepers aren't checked up on. It means that that level of service is below the standard that they're trying to adhere to.

My sentiments exactly. Seriously hoping we're not just waiting for the other shoe to drop. Seriously hoping that recent changes aren't going to hold back progress in a positive direction (yes, I know MM+ went overbudget and they're cutting back on spending but hopefully they are still planning to do things to make the parks better...eventually).

The comments seem to fit the thread or even just a part of a thread and consistency is definitely lacking. I love it! :lmao:

wow...just wow...again...wow

I stayed onsite last November.

We did a split stay...half caribbean, half POR

We noticed there were a lot of weeds and overgrown shrubs everywhere...even in the usually super manicured Magnolia Bend section.
We noticed this because we would always play a game about who could find a plant, shrub, weed out of place at Disney...it was always difficult to do so.

We asked for a room with a fridge 3 different times. Once in the initial reservation...and twice we called the specific number they sent out in a letter about the fridges. we were basically told no problem each times. Both stops of the split stay...no fridge...wasnt even in our request apparently...at caribbean, they sent someone over and had in in about 20-30 minutes...but it didnt get cold for awhile.

At POR we requested first floor alligator bayou...they gave us magnolia. i know you dont get everything you request, but they had no requests listed in file and we waited around about 30 minutes to get room with fridge.

POR room had some weird red jelly gunk all over the hair dryer...no idea what...i brought my own, but no way i would have used it.

each little thing was just that...little...but all the little things added up to be an annoyance.

I find it very believeable that this is happening more and more.

We stayed for one night at pop about 2 years ago and we had a huge wet spot on the carpet...like 2 by 3 ft. we reported it as we left...who knows if they fixed it for next guest.
