Well, I could just about cry right now if I wasn't so darn tired. I've been obsessing over doing a Disney Vow Renewal for our five year anniversary for about a year now, and it's not even until July 2008!! I've been on the website a thousand times, viewed the DVD, talked to the Wedding Consultants, but nothing has topped sitting here tonight reading through everyone's posts - I'M NOT ALONE ANYMORE!!!!!

My hubby and I got married at the courthouse due to my being seven months pregnant and I kick myself every day for letting him get out of having a real wedding. After stressing over it for four years I finally told him we're going to do a Vow Renewal at Disney (seeing as he and I are Disney People). So now I stress over..

-Do I wear a real gown? Because I want to with all of my heart, even though his family thinks I'm quite literally insane.
-Can I have an intimate vow renewal and still do some type of reception?
-Do I do Seabreeze or Yacht Club? I love them both (WP is out of the question as it is a Friday). How much do they decorate them to make them look pretty?
-How do I tactfully tell guests that gifts are not required or wanted?
-How do I involve our three year old daughter in the ceremony?

I've looked at the Cruise Vow Renewal but don't see it as 'bang for my buck'.. the Intimate just gives you so much more for not that much more, KWIM?

Thanks for listening!!

Ok first Welcome! And breathe :rotfl:

There are lots of ladies that wear traditional wedding dresses. It's up to you, it's your vision.

You can't have a traditional reception with a Intimate. But alot of couples have a nice meal at one of the resort hotels and you can wear your dress. Such as Citricos or Grand Floridian Cafe.

There are family ceremonies for vow renewals. My parents did it a few yrs ago and included my brother and me. I'm sure the officiant ou use can help.

You have lots of time to search threads here. Just look at ones that interest you and ask away. Everyone is very helpful here.

Happy planning.

congrats on your upcoming VR!!!!!
if you want to wear a big dress, go for it! its your day, do what you want. it'll mean even more to you seeing that you didnt have a big posh wedding to start with.
you cant do a proper reception as such but you can arrange a normal meal at any of the restaurants, you cant wear wedding dresses in the parks but you can anywhere else. we went to chef mickeys!!
i had the WP so cant say anything about either the yacht club or SBP, i suppose it depends on if you want the gazebo or a waterside location. i believe they dont decorate them unless youve arranged it first. disney floral can help with this
you could mention in your invites that gifts are not necessary. if people want to do something you could always suggest a charitable donation or something similar.
you could have your daughter as a bridesmaid, and you can discuss with your officiant ways to involve her in the ceremony. they do loads of ceremonies and i'm sure they'll have some great ideas!
hope this helps

Oh good for you and do what THE TWO OF YOU WANT! Its your day and whatever your "vision" may be of that day (albeit it delayed or not)! You should wear the dress if thats your wish and family involved would be a dream you should have. Life is short and should be filled with memories not stress. I wish you both all the luck and happiness in the World!

First off you are not alone. Your story was like reading about my life. We go married at JP I was 8 months pregant. We could not do it any sooner because he was out at sea. I am like you and regret it because nobody was there. My husband said we could have a VR renewal. Our 5 years will be June 2008. We are not having it until Sept. 2009 because of his job. I say wear the dress that makes you happy.:goodvibes About having your daughter invovled we are having our son as the ringbearer and our daughter the flowergirl. We are also going to do a sand cermony and having them be apart of that. Good Luck with the planning.

Welcome aboard & congrats on your upcoming anniversary!!!

I'll be celebrating my 10yr on Dec 4th 2007
We got married at the YC gazebo in 1997...it was beautiful!!
So thats where we are gonna do it again!!
I was like you with if i should wear a dress, but i think im gonna...just because its so much fun!
Im gonna do an intimate with a few family members & then maybe a nice dinner later.
I have a DD whos gonna be 6 in july & Im gonna get her dressed up & make her a flower girl....shes gonna love it!

If you want to inform people of the renewal/anniv, just do an announcement.
if you are inviting them you can put "no gifts please" on the invite....ive seen that several times.

Welcome & I hope you will be visiting us here on the boards often:thumbsup2

Another option for the no gift thing, insert a separate card like a registry card and put something along the lines of
"the only gift we'd like to recieve is the honor of your presence" or something like that.

I've seen similiar to this. The card read "your presence is present enough, no gifts please"

congratulations!

Wear a beautiful wedding gown of your dreams. It is you and your dh day. Now adays anyone who wants to renew those vows should be commended and celebrated. It is rare.
Dh and I are hoping for a vr this fall. I personally do not wish to wear a formal wedding gown, just a formal dress. I did the whole big wedding 24 yrs ago. That is my wish. Everyone should do what makes them happy. Enjoy your time, enjoy your planning.
I had a lot of the same questions. Stay with these boards. everyone is very helpful and kind! I have found these ladies some of the most considerate, compassionate, kind women I have ever encounted. Have fun planning.

I think every woman should have the chance to where a wedding dress. I am so excited about going shopping for a dress (event though I have some time to wait before I do go shopping). I know it's a girly thing, but its something I know I dreamed about forever, finding the perfect dress! And believe me i'm a T-shirt and Jeans kinda chick. If you want to wear a dress, definitely wear a dress.

Can you make your little girl a flower girl? I think you said she's three, but I really don't know anyone who's had a VR besides people on the boards so I'm not how they incorporate a bridal party into a VR. I'm sure you could though!

I really don't know too many answers to your questions, but I know the people here are always such a big help!

Thanks for everyone's kind words and advice. I'll def have DD in the Vow Renewal, not sure how at this point but I know it will come to me.

I keep getting this urge to say f it and go for the Custom seeing as what I really want is a big bash for my 'reception', but I just can't see blowing $15k on a party that will only be for 15-30 people, esp. as we are just starting out in our venture of life (we will be celebrating our five year anniversary for our vow renewal).

A few things I've picked up on thus far.. it seems that people can bring their own 'song' to play for their 'first dance' as part of the Intimate.. that's awesome because I have a Frank Sinatra song I would like to play but wasn't wild about the idea of a violinist playing it with no words. LoL.

Citricos Round Table and Grand 1 sound like awesome ideas. Keep the info coming!! I still don't know where I stand with California Grill... the pictures I've seen of the private rooms aren't doing much for me. Can't seem to get answers as to how much we can decorate it and make it 'reception' - like. I also liked the Fulton's idea.. has anyone played with that one yet?

Should I mention I'm a CM? Don't want to get myself into any trouble ;-) But it goes hand-in-hand as to why I love Disney so much and why I want to do my Vow Renewal there.

You know one of the big debates I have? My DH's family is up in NY and I think they sort of frown upon the whole concept of this Vow Renewal.. I dunno, it seems like they think things like this are just so we can get gifts. It really weighs on me seeing as that's not the case at all... is it kind of ridiculous that this whole thing is about me having my day to be a princess and have my moment to say my vows of love to my DH? It's what I want so much that sometimes it consumes me and I have to take a deep breath and a step back and think about things like starving children in other countries to make me put it all in perspective. It's important but it's not everything, KWIM? It's just so weird that DH can not grasp why this is even remotely important to me. Hmph.

I just thought I would let you know that there is a video of a really cool vow renewal on this website. They had their reception at the Whitehall Room at the GF. I'm guessing it was probably a custom, but I'm not sure...

Go to:

and then scroll down to Lisa & Joel Grand Floridian/Whitehall Patio

As for the dress -- I think you should do whatever you want! It's your day! :thumbsup2

If you want to wear a gown I say go for it.. Make this the wedding you never had... I am not sure how VR, but I am sure Disney will make it very special as if you are getting married for the first time.. GL to you:goodvibes
