Hi, I was wondering if someone could explain this statement to me that I found on Disney's website for this program:

"Be a student enrolled in an accredited, degree-issuing college or university; and returning to school for at least one term following the program"

What do they mean by accredited?
Does it matter what your major is/degree?

I really am interested in doing this program, and i'll be 18 in May so I will hopefully be able to apply for next summer. Thanks!

I think by "accreditted, degree-issuing college/uni" they just mean that you're enrolled in at a real university/college that at the end of it you will be getting a degree.

I'd say it doesn't overly matter what you're studying, although it'd probably be a help to get you onto the program depending on what you want to do (e.g it would help if you're trying to get into the design/art aspect of disney and you're already doing an art/design-related degree).

I'm only presuming however!
But I hope that clears things up :)

Im currently on a gap year and have a secured place at university starting October. I really would like to apply for the international Summer programe, but it is only offered to those who are already attending University. Do you think there is any way I could still apply! I need some hope!! I really badly want to go!! thank you xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I think you have to be enrolled at the university and even though you have a place, you aren't actually yet a student at that institution. I'm sure this wouldn't happen but say it came to September and you decided you didn't want to go, you'd never have actually been a student.

Also you need to have letters from your personal tutor at the university to state that it is an accredited school and you are enrolled as a student.

The bit about returning for one term means that you have a reason to return to your country and remain in the States as an illegal alien once the term of your visa is up.

Hope that helps!
