I bought it in hope that I'll see better fireworks pics than what we have here. NONE of them is a good as the ones taken by We-Luv-Disney and the rest of the gang here. Heck, even my fireworks pics are better than the ones in the book.

Makes me wonder who chose the photographer for that yearbook.

:furious:

I was going to buy it but wasn't sure it was worth it. How is it otherwise?

to put it simply:

1 if you buy it expecting to see pretty pictures, it's not even wroth the paper they're printed on.

2. if you buy it for the articles, it's worth $10

3. if you buy it because you like reading Disney's self-promotion, then it's worth the $20 they charged me.

I bought it for reason number 1 and I'm sorely disappointed. There are some pictures that look like they were taken using a camera phone. (page 59, to be exact, all three pictures). I swear to God that pictures taken using my Motorola RAZR V3 (0.3 MP) printed at the size they printed look better than the ones in the book.

I thought about purchasing the book, but decided I didn't want to get emotionally hooked into purchasing a yearbook each year. (it's a problem I tend to have -- I bought the 1st one, so I need to get the next ones)

I do have to ask if you are having computer problems though. Your signature is rather telling? I am guessing your problem goes beyond this :badpc:

:rotfl:

LOL! Yeah, I'm using genuine Windows XP Pro and for the past couple of months the WGA module installed by Microsoft works fine. Suddenly today after installing their new version of WGA it claims that my Windows is not legit.

Not only my Windows XP Pro is legit, I bought the retail version (not even OEM -- I heard there's a lot of problem with certain OEM serial numbers, especially the ones pre-installed by IBM and Dell). When I called MS, they were adamant that my serial number is not legit... and I keep telling them how can it not be legit if I'm reading the serial number from its original packaging AND when I bought my XP-Pro through my office who bought it DIRECTLY from Microsoft Canada (and I have the receipt for it).

Ooh, I am so glad I didn't waste my money!
I wonder why Disney doesn't spend the money on things like having fantastic photos in their book?
Has anyone ever seen their park DVD's--they are just painful to watch...my 8 y.o. could take better video footage!

Yeah. I have ALL of them (bought during their 50th anniversary thinking they'll be better than usual). They are atrocious. My DH is the one who suffers most. He's a sound and video guy (sound professionally, video part-time professional, full time hobbyist) he couldn't be in the same room after the first 2 minutes into the MK DVD.

I don't blame him. I can't even finish watching any of the DVD !! :furious: what a waste of money.

Oh, talk about atrocious picture, you gotta see "Around the World with Disney" coffee-table book. Some of the pictures are not colour corrected, some of them are out of focus, some of them looked like they were taken using low-grade 35mm film, none of them is good. What made it worse is that I bought the book sight unseen (they were all sealed, no sampler) and I didn't open the book until I arrived back in Canada.

Now that book, those 4-park DVDs, a screensaver CD and the Yearbook are being stored in a box in my basement together with my other nice junk (too nice to be thrown away/given away, but too ugly to be kept with the rest of my coffee-table books and my DVD collection)

I've seen that book but don't recall the quality. I have "Since the World Began" and it's pretty good IMO.

:rotfl2: Don't think I'll be rushing out to buy these :teeth: although from your description, they sound marvelous! ;)

I have that book and the pictures are good. When they are faded etc, they are in context (historically). But in the other book, these are supposedly new pictures from all the parks around the world. There is no excuse for poor image quality on Euro Disney. (or any other parks, for that matter.) It's not expensive to hire a real photographer for a month to go around the world to take pics for an anniversary book or a Yearbook.

oh they are! those book teached me how to NOT take pictures.

We bought the Photo Memories Book. It has some really nice pictures in it. Though a lot of them are very similar to photos we take as a group here. I did get some ideas for future pictures though. There are a lot of the pictures that we (as group here on this board) wont really be able to take only because of the location the photographers had. Such as being on a ladder (or at least being like 7' tall) or on top of some of the roofs and things like that. For us, it was worth the $9.95.

I think we saw the yearbook too and weren't impressed.
