I have heard so much about the Insider magazine for CC members. We will be going on our third cruise May 25, 2002
(only 44 days away!) and I have yet to receive anything from CC.
In other threads I've read about people having this same problem getting "on the list," and about how the pins are now being distributed at check-in, but I really would like to see a copy of the magazine before we go...or at least see a copy of the table of contents. Is anyone willing to share? Is anyone actually RECEIVING this magazine?

On our second cruise, Sept. 30, there was an artist signing going on in the Treasure Ketch gift shop. people were buying posters and then lining up for the artist's signature. When I asked about it I was told that only folks who had a special coupon from Insider magazine were eligible for the signing.

I have called the CC on three different occasions and each time someone took my name and mailing address saying that I would be hearing from them soon.... Castaway Club must run on island time, Mon!
So far, this has been the only DC glitch I have experienced.

The last one I remember was from at least 6 or 9 months ago. I doubt I can find my copy now, but I'll give it a try.

I don't recall a coupon about a signed poster though.

My filing is done by a contracting crew that comes in every week, they have served me faithfully for years now. Their names are Hap and Hazard, so I wasn't too optimistic about finding anything.

I'm totally amazed that I could find this in the same week that I started to look for it:

Here's a scan of the contents page of the Fall / Winter 2001 issue of the Disney Insider Magazine. It has all of 20 pages.

The article on page 13 discusses how the ships were made in two sections and then joined together later, at sea. The bow and the stern were joined together after the bow made a 100 mile journey.

The article on page 15 discusses how the CMs that work on the ships sometimes make lasting friends from guests that sail with them and exchange postcards years later.

The article that starts on page 16 discusses the new Western Itinerary for the Magic.

The article on page 19 discusses the amount of original Disney art work found on the ships. It also discusses some features of the ships that could be considered art by themselves, such as the statue of 'Helmsman Mickey' in the atrium of the Magic. It was inspired by Leonard Craske's famous 1923 statue titled "Man at the Wheel'.

There were no special coupons or offers except for the 'kids fly free offer' and it had to be booked by October 1, 2001.

This issue did have some postcards that could be used for referrals to friends that haven't cruised before. The cards had to be sent in by 1/31/02 and could get the new cruiser an onboard credit of as much as $50.

Hope that helps

I have yet to get anything either from Disney. Sailed in Sept 2001 and called them 3x. Everytime I should be receiving it shortly. Sailing again 5/11/02 (western). Guess Disney is not that great in the mailing category!! Maybe I should send them a postage paid envelope (haha).

Darwin, have you put your name on our LOOOOOONG 5/11 Inaugural western thread list?

If not, hop over there and join us if you'd like!

Less than a month now!

The Insider magazine comes out twice a year. The last one was around September or October, although I no longer have it. I spoke with a CM last month...she said the next issue is due to come out sometime in April.

Don't feel bad, I have been on three cruises and have yet to receive the Insider Magazine.

After contacting Castaway Club several times, I was informed a few weeks ago that they have discontinued the Disney Insider. We had received one right after our Dec 2000 cruise and then had to make several calls to receive our second ( and last) Insider.

Thanks to Al and everyone else who responded to my question.
Now I don't feel so left out. No doubt our DIS forum could do a better job at E-publishing and delivering a magazine. We certainly have lots of info to share!

Time left to cruise: 43 days 17 hours 14 min and 30 seconds!!!!
