Disney Infinity 2.0 Question. Really Confused

We have a Wii. We bought the Dis Infinity last year and have several figures. We are considering getting the 2.0 figures.

Does the infinity 2.0 even work on the wii? Does I need to buy a new base? What do I need to do?

It is my understanding that the version 1.0 will work with the base and characters from version 2.0 but the new 2.0 characters will not work with the 1.0 system.

Think of it like this:

1.0 is not related in any way to 2.0
2.0 is related to 1.0 in that it can use 1.0's figures

You will need to buy a new starter pack to get Disney Infinity 2.0.

Unfortunately, 2.0 is not made for the Wii. If you don't want to spend the money for a WiiU, you could look at the XBox 360 that is $179 on Thanksgiving at Target. Unfortunately, my DS9 likes Mario Kart and we will be investing in a WiiU this year. I'm hoping Walmart will have a WiiU in their ads (but I'm not counting on it).

Actually you do not have to buy a new starter pack IF you are able to download the new 2.0 software. Since 2.0 is not available on Wii, then this may not be an option for you. You would need to search the software downloads to see if it happened to be available. With our PS3, we just downloaded the software the day it became available and can use all figures with our existing base.

Update: just did a quick search and it looks like the downloadable version is not available for the Wii..so in your case you would not be able to use the 2.0 version at all without upgrading to another game system and starting all over.
