There are a list of terms and conditions involved with every promotional offering by Disney. The so-called "free dining" is not really "free dining." The deal is that if you agree to buy a vacation package from Disney which includes 4 or more nights at full rack rate AND park passes, you get the Magic Your Way dining plan added at no cost.
Sorry, but it's hard for me to label something "free" when you're still paying hundreds of dollars out of pocket for the rest of the package.
Given the unique nature of DVC, there is no comparable offering to DVC members.
DVC members already receive their accommodations at discounted prices (as in, the financial benefit of owning the points) and can add the DDP to any reservation without the list of terms and conditions that apply to cash guests. No minimum stay. No ticket purchase requirement. No advance payment. We simply ask to have the dining plan noted on our reservations and pay the published rate when checking-in.
We are eligible for "free" dining just like any other Disney customer -- meaning we have the same opportunity to book a room at rack rate during the peak of hurricane season, buy park tickets we don't need in most cases, and get DDP "free."
Some DVC owners do book stays at regular non-DVC resorts in order to take advantage of "free" dining.
The requirements for us to buy DDP at non-DVC resorts, incidentally, are the same as regular customers -- still the rack rate in most cases, park tickets, and paying the same price for DDP.
So we are eligible for the same things everyone else is. The benefit we have is we can buy DDP on points stays without all the strings attached any time of the year.
DVC members have some perks availiable to them that are not availiable to the general public, as well as some members-only events that they can attend.
I'm not sure what you mean by DVC "visitors" - if you mean renters, you are probably better off paying for a discounted package during the incentive periods if you can travel during those off-times. If you are a visitor because your friends or family are giving you a free vacation - then you'll still be ahead paying to add dining!
If you are renting a DVC ressie from an owner, you will get all of the normal Disney onsite benefits, but not the DVC member perks...except the availability of the dining plan.
The onsite benefits are significant. They include free transportation from and to the airport by DME, free parking at all theme parks if you have a car, EMH (early and late park hours), free transportation from all resorts to all theme parks and DTD, and others.
