Our family always does Disney in the fall. But with highschool kids in sports and college dd it has been impossible. I have planned and cancelled 3 trips. What would Disney be like in the summer? Will we go nuts with the crowds? If we do go in the summer what is the best time? Should we go right after school gets out, like the 8th? The only plus is that we will be able to go longer. I might make it a two week trip. I have only started to price things out. I guess I will be paying more in the summer too. Argh.. Just three more years and our schedule will be a bit more flexible.

Disney in the summer is great! We like it because of the Longer park hours.

Because of longer park hours, the crowds aren't that bad and you have more time to see and do everything.

As far as best time to go, It depends on where you like to stay and if you are on a budget. The Value season for Deluxe Resorts starts on 07/04, so it works out for us to have gone after the 4th of July.

Tom...

We went to WDW last July and it was great. I had prepared myself and my kids for it to be crowded and very hot and humid and that there would be long lines for everything. It really wasn't that crowded and by using FastPass and E-night at Magic Kingdom, we were able to do everything we wanted to do and more.

It was hot and humid but even that wasn't too bad.

My son plays basketball and soccer so for us summer is really the only time we can travel.

Have a great time!

We've been Memorial Day week-first week in June several times. Last summer, we went the third week in July. Early June is sooooooooo much better. Crowds are smaller, it's slightly less hot and it's less likely to rain every day.

We have been twice in early June. Crowds were tolerable. We stayed 2+ weeks both time, so we didn't feel like we had to rush around to get stuff done.

We split the trips between 2 resorts. It made it seem like we were there for a month!

I think you'll have a good time in June.

We are going again for the first 2 weeks in June 2003.

We have been able to get great discounts for June. In 2000, we had a AP rate at CR-Garden room for $178(tax included). This year we got PO-R for $104(tax included).

I know what you mean about not being able to take the kids out of school. We have the same situation. So we've gone in summer for our last few trips. Here's our experience. It's hot and humid (prepare yourself mentally for this otherwise it will hit you like a brick). It's rainy. Meaning it often rains for more than just 10 minutes. Sometimes it rains for hours. Be prepared for this too. Tell yourself that if it pours, you don't care, you'd rather be wet in WDW than dry in your hometown. Bring umbrellas and ponchos. You will need them. It's crowded, but since Fastpass came into existence, it's much better. We've done June and July, and didn't find there to be any difference in weather or crowds. The big plus to going in the summer is how late the parks stay open. You can really do alot that way. Get to the parks early, break in the afternoon, stay at the parks late. And if there's an E-Night - do that for sure. You can ride all the biggies over and over again with little to no lines.

We're going at the end of the summer next time, and it's considered off-season. I'm bummed because I really do love the summer hours. We're simply going later due to costs.

We were there in late June this year, our first trip that was NOT in the offseason.

The crowds were not as bad as I had feared, though much higher than in the fall. Everything was doable with Fastpass with relatively short waits. It was hot and humid, but no more so than it is in May when we usually go.

It rained MUCH more during this trip than any other trip I've taken. We thought we were prepared for the daily afternoon rains, but I think that because we are so used to having nearly perfect weather on most of our trips, the rain really did affect our spirits.

I think that when DS is older and it becomes more difficult to take him out of school, we'll go back to June trips. Until then, I'm going to only travel to WDW during the offseason.

So the heat won't be such an issue. I have never seen the fireworks over the castle and am looking forward to that. I grew up watching Wonderful World of Disney and always wanted to see Tink light up the fireworks. In Sept/Oct it closes so early that we never get to see the Magic Kingdom at night. Now the choice of hotels, definite dates.............Ooohh I love trip planning.
