We are heading to Disney on Sunday -- and the forcast says rain all week -- due to TS Faye. I am determined to have a good time. :thumbsup2 Does anyone have suggestions for how to handle a Disney trip where it rains a good part of the time? Can we still do this with two LO's --age 3 1/2 and 1?
Are there things we should bring/wear/check out? Will the rides still run?

Thanks for your help. These boards are great!!

Hi,

I don't think Fay will be affecting Orlando next week. I see predictions of scatterred and isolated thunderstorms throughout the week, which is normal for Orlando during this time of year. The highest chance of rain seems to be toward the end of the week. Bring ponchos, a stroller cover, and enjoy. There are lots of rides that will be open in the rain.

Disney in the rain is great! Everyone runs to the nearest building to get out of the rain when it starts and the rides are all clear except the ones where you stand under a shelter or in a building where the line is.

1) Before you go to Orlando go to Wally World [Wal-Mart] and go to the sporting goods section and get several of the disposable ponchos. You may find them in other locations in the store. These are great! They fit in your hip pocket or fanny packs and can be thrown away like a garbage bag.

2) If you don’t do number 1, do this. When you first get to the park go to the nearest park store and ask for rain ponchos. They have adult and kiddy sizes. They are larger than the disposable ones but are great when it starts raining. DO NOT expect to find them when it does start raining because everyone and his brother buys them out quickly.

Also; on your feet. Ware a shoe that isn’t leather [feet get hot in them anyways] so they can get wet and you won’t be uncomfortable. If it rains all day go in to the park in the afternoon. The crowds are lighter because of the rain and you’ll have more fun.

Last note: Avoid going in air conditioned places when it is raining. It is VERY COLD in there when you are wet.

We leave tomorrow and will be there next week too. As for rain, well no biggie! As others have said bring ponchos and for you particularly the stroller cover - it is absolutely necessary. When my kids were stroller age and little I would also bring a little fold up type umbrella. If it's raining and you park the stroller, it's good to have for when you pick up the little one out of the stroller so they do get wet too.

Have fun, I know we will....

I thought Fay would be out of Florida by Sunday? And then a whole week of rain following that? Can't be right, say it ain't so.

We bought a shower curtain at the dollar store, and used clothes pins to attach it to the stroller. Worked great for keeping it dry. Wear crocs to the park if it is going to rain... nothing worse than sloshing around in wet tennis shoes. We also took dry outfits to change the kids into for dinner. They would get so cold sitting in the restaurants if they were wet. I packed the dry outfit in a gallon zip-lock and tossed it in the diaper bag. When they changed, I stuck the wet outfit back into the bag so nothing else got wet. It worked very well for us! MK is a good park in the rain. Most lines are under cover, and they are close together. Epcot Innoventions is also great in the rain, as they can spend a lot of time in there playing with the interactive stuff. (same with the Figment ride.) World of Energy (Epcot) is 45 min, so a good place to go if you see a big storm rolling in.
