Can people who have gone to Disney in Sept (I am going 9/13-9/20) make me feel better about the potential wet weather? I booked this week only looking at the crowd level and not really looking at the weather (dumb, I know). I can handle heat as we did July last year but would love to hear from those that normally travel there at this time Why they love it so much and if I need to be ready for anything more than having ponchos and extra shoes:). 40% rain isn't awful if it is the normal afternoon stuff.

We LOVE going in September and have been each of the last two years and are booked for this year as well. We have been fortunate to avoid any really extreme weather, but the usual rain isn't too bad to deal with. We pack ponchos in our park bag, and have small umbrellas we sometimes use. Another must if you have a stroller is a rain cover. This way we can leave the stroller out anywhere and not have it become a soggy mess. We also try to remember to cover it whenever we park it, even if it is sunny. This paid off last year at Epcot, when we went into the land under sunny skies and it poured while we were in there. It was only sprinkling by the time we got out, but there were a lot of other wet strollers. We also remain flexible in our schedule, and if the weather is bad, we'll hang out inside somewhere or go check out a resort.
On the bright side, the crowd levels are very nice. I love seeing places like resort Quick Service locations that are often packed almost totally empty at times. It won't be like you have the whole place to yourselves, but at off peak times it can feel like the parks are relatively empty. We have found that the crowds increase somewhat as you get later in September, but overall the crowds are nothing like we saw in June.
Overall it is our favorite time to go, and we can't wait to be back. See you in September!

We went in September in 2012 and it was great. It was so nice crowd wise we will choose this time of year again. The rain only really poured twice while we were there for five days and it didn't last long either time. The time we lost waiting for storms to pass we more than made up for with short wait times! You will have a great time!

We were just there last September. We only had 2 days out of a 7 day stay that had any real rain. One day had downpours for about an hour, one day had some small showers here and there, and the rest we had some overcast days and some sunny days. We brought our ponchos, rain cover for the stroller, and packed an extra pair of shoes for each person just in case. So we were prepared for rain anytime, and it didn't damper the trip at all.

My only other advice would be if you are driving there. It is hurricane/rainy season and it could affect travel plans with some delays or detours. I'd have an alternate route mapped out just in case and give myself some extra time for travel.

We went mid September in 2011 the whether was great rained only once for a few hours and crowds were low (the best part). You have to remember your in central Florida any time of year you go you have the potential to get rain everyday.

We went Sept 2010 and the weather was really nice until the last day. We had 5 days of sun and then the last day it rained a lot. But other than that day it was really nice. :)

We went early September 2011. It was very hot and humid that year. I am from Indiana so I am used to the humidity, I just wasn't prepared for in in September like that.

The rain was not bad at all, just a few quick showers for our entire stay. It wasn't even worth bringing a poncho.

I wasn't aware of love bugs until we arrived. It was kind of funny to explain to the kids what was happening. We drove down, and had to wash our car a few times due to the love bugs stuck to it :(.

Most days you just have a shower in the afternoon or sometimes overnight. If you do have a storm come through and a rainy day, it is warm enough that you can just head out and have fun anyway. Ponchos and extra shoes are all you need.

The reasons everyone loves September.....low crowds, warm weather and did I mention low crowds.:good vibes Halloween decorations and parties start at the beginning of the month as well. The best holiday Disney does in our opinion.

we have been going in September for a few years now and love it. low crowds. we go in the middle of the month and this years we will be there from sept. 11th to the 21st. its still warm, no need for long pants or sweat shirts. as far as rain, nothing to really mention. (knock on wood :lmao:) I don't recall having a complete day of rain. maybe a shower in the afternoon. a lot of times they gave a 50 percent chance of a shower and didn't get it. I wouldn't lose sleep over it. :thumbsup2

September is my favorite time of year to go to WDW! I got married at Boardwalk (Sea Breeze Point) in September of 2010. Weather is beautiful normally, with a short spurt of rain at around 3 PM every afternoon. It's usually a torrential downpour, but you dry off quickly when the sun comes back out!

Crowd levels are great, you will not regret the decision!

We almost always go in September. I can't remember ever being "rained out" to where we couldn't do anything. Most of the time, it would rain while we were doing something, and we'd come out to wet sidewalks saying "cool, we missed that!".

So it does rain in September, yes. But in our experience, it hasn't been like an all day thing to rain us out and make us have to say at the resort.

We've learned to put the rain cover on the stroller while it's parked when we're at an attraction, even if it's sunny. Because it's no fun to come out to a wet stroller.

We have gone in septemeber the last 7 years, going again sept 16-22. We love September.. It is more hot and humid than rainy in my opinion. You have the occasional rain that lasts a few minutes to an hour and then is sunny. We have never had a rainout where we could not do anything..crowd levels are very low, it's a wonderful time to go
