As I edge ever closer to our second in a lifetime WDW trip, I'm moving through my list of things to do (and have done very well at procrastinating on it, something I do very well) and one of the things I have down is to ask about the wifi strength at WDW in terms of streaming video.
I know it's strong enough to FaceTime when out at Hurricane Hanna's at the YC/BC pool, which I found pretty impressive (wifi in Australia just isn't that good when it's free) so figured that streaming can be that much more of a lag on wifi?

Leigh will probably want to watch wwe smackdown and raw while we are there, and while I don't think they air that on the WWE network (and I have no idea what channel it airs on over there and if Disney offers it?) I wondered if I could stream it somewhere?
@TheMaxRebo I figure you'd know which channel wwe airs on and if Disney has that channel?

I'd happily bring my Apple TV if it was going to work, otherwise, I'll just use my laptop with a HDMI cable.

I don't see why it wouldn't (but others likely know better than I.) All of my wifi devices (MacBook Pro, iPad, iPhone and Nintendo 3DS) all connected to the wifi at Port Orleans French Quarter with no issues

I've had less than wonderful experiences with Wifi at the Values (POP & AS Mus) but this may be a result of the much larger no of guests at a value online at any given time than at a mod or deluxe? ie I've been kicked off MDE multiple Xs in a row so the thought of streaming a program wouldn't have entered my mind. Again, your mileage may well vary at a mod or deluxe. Fingers crossed for Leigh!

I don't know the answer but it does depend on how their system is set up. For example, at my daughter's college, there is Wifi in the dorms. She can use her laptop, her iPhone, and her iPod Touch, but she can't use her Apple TV. The network security doesn't allow it.

As for WWE, RAW and Smackdiwn are NOT on the WWE network. The only thing streaming is a 1hour version the next day on Hulu

On TV they are both on USA (per the internet it is channel 39 is Disney hotels) and at that point Smackdown will be live on Tuesday

They are on USA network. I don't know but check if they have an app, otherwise they are on Disney room TV

You might be able to use your Apple TV... and then again you might not want to bring it along. If I understand correctly, you are coming from Australia - the apps you use on your Apple TV there most likely will not work on Disney's IP addresses in the US.

Point in case: A friend visiting from the UK signed in to iTunes in the US, downloaded the BBC America App to our Apple TV so that he could watch Graham Norton. Everything appeared to be fine until he tried to fire up the app, and we got an error message saying that content is not available in this country.

I would reach out to Apple's tech support in Australia and ask them what will happen if you try to use your services in the US. I would hate for you to bring it all the way here, and it doesn't work :(

An alternative to consider while you are in the US is that Sling TV has a free 7 day trial, and they stream live TV to iOS devices & laptops too. You could check their channel lineup and see if the channel you want is listed, and then just utilize the free 7 day trial while at WDW.

Thanks mamabunny!
In Aus, we have crap Netflix and YouTube restrictions, so we're fairly good at working around this to get through to the international options, so currently, in Aus, with no VPN, I have all the USA apps showing instead of the Aus ones, so I should be right to access them once there I think (I changed my country to USA via iTunes and reset the ATV and it works that way!)
But based on the above, I probably won't worry to bring it and will just stick with the lappy and HDMI set up!

I've had good success with streaming tv and movies to the resort room, and there are times I need to knock the quality way down... I was doing it to a tablet and I picked up an hdmi cable to connect it to the tv.. the tv is very friendly to attaching a computer or device to it you just just need a proper cable.

If you are on "In-Room" wifi, you will want to use your own "Wifi as Wan" router to connect to Disney Wifi. Otherwise your Apple TV will not be able to get around the Disney Capive Portal.

The "WIfi as WAN" router will attach to Disney Wifi, then your devices connect to your wifi router. Then, just one phone or computer needs to accept the T's and C's on Disney's captive portal and all your devices will now work in your room since the WiFi Network only see's the MAC address of your router and not e MACs of your devices, including an Apple TV
