Disney in July

No experience on long term rental, but I believe if you go on AIRBNB, you can find homes in the area that will rent for a month rate.

Thank you! I am looking at rentals now! Hopefully I have something booked by the end of the week.

Also check VRBO. You'll find a huge supply of choices. I'd bet you can get a nice townhouse or 3/4 bedroom condo for $1500-$2000 for a month.

Thanks! I am checking everywhere! I am looking at homeaway too - have you ever booked through them? That would be incredible if I could find a rental for under $2000 for the month! I am not having luck finding anything that cheap!

My family and I are in the middle of relocating and will be "homeless" the month of July. I figured if we need to rent a place for a month - why not head to Orlando?! My kids are missing Disney and I thought it would be an awesome way to spend the summer - but having never been to Disney in the summer - I am starting to question if it's a good idea. I know it will be hot, humid and crowded but I am hoping if we go in expecting the worse - it won't be that bad. I was there in mid September last year and I didn't feel it was that bad, granted - I didn't have my kids with me. Is it really that horrible? I think the highest crowds we have encountered were over President's Day weekend a few years ago.
Would it be easy to leave and come back since I would be driving and staying offsite? We always stay on property so I have no experience with the parking lots!
I am also concerned since we would be getting APs - I wouldn't be able to preplan our fastpasses! I know I could book them for later in the month once our APs are activated but still a little concerned about the first week - especially with the holiday but I guess the kids will be so happy they are there - they will take what they can get.
So just wondering if spending the month of July in Disney is a crazy idea or if it might be the best summer ever? It would be me braving the parks alone with my 4 kiddos ages 8-13. Having APs, it will be great not feeling as though we have to cram everything in.
Thanks for any advise! I really don't know if it's a good idea or a crazy one! haha! I know we will need a lot of down time by the pool and a beach day here and there - thinking Clearwater?
Any suggestions on rentals would also be appreciated! Thanks so much!
Count me as one who thinks summer can be the best time at Disney if you do it right....all the advice above is great...if you use the pool and naps in the middle of the day, you can truly get so much out of a Disney Trip...I often dont like some of our trips with cooler weather, because we are non stop during the day, that i am exhausted by the time we hit the nighttime activities

All of this advice has me really excited! I was nervous about the heat and crowds but I am feeling very confident it is going to be great! I am looking forward to taking midday breaks - we have never done that. We normally tour the parks all day and it is exhausting!! I can't wait to experience Disney at a slower pace.

The midday breaks are the best....some choose to nap, some choose to swim....then we can shower up get dressed and enjoy the parks in the evening refreshed....a nice meal, a couple of rides, strolling around epcot, ending with the fireworks show at that particular park

We moved to Florida to an apartment, sight unseen until we arrived. Most places do short term leases. We rented for a couple months.

We don't do full days at Disney. Often we go here and there for a few hours. I haven't had many problems with FP. But usually I'm making them as we are enroute. My son doesn't go on most thrill rides. FEA and 7dmt are difficult last minute, but I have scored them as close as night before or morning of.

My biggest tip for summer in Disney is to plan for TWO outfits per day, including undergarments. It can get a bit sweaty. I always feel like putting on fresh clothes after a midday break. If you are renting a place, though, that should be easy compared to living out of a suitcase/hotel room.

One thing to note about FP + AP, you can only have 7-days worth booked. When you use a day's FPs, you can book another day. I found out the hard way about that one. As for heat, September is about the same as July. You just have to manage. When we went in July 2015, I was expecting Hades to feel like a Winter Wonderland. It wasn't bad at all. Yes, it is hot and humid. You just need to know how and where to cool off.

Enjoy the time off and being there. With that much time, just enjoy all of it and the small things you would normally miss out on.

Just did a quick glance for full month of July rental. There is a 4BR townhouse in Regal Palms for $1,100 for the entire month.

We loved the misting fan/spray (we buy some at the dollar store, they're like 3$ vs 18$ at disney). Example:https://www.amazon.com/Generic-Delu...coding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=VCS8FKKMMD1BBPBSDHD5

We also love Frogg togg chilly pad (https://www.amazon.com/Frogg-Toggs-Original-Chilly-Cooling/dp/B002NGSB96/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1495640258&sr=1-1-catcorr&keywords=Frog++chilly+pad&th=1)

Just be smart and drink water, take breaks and you'll have a lot of fun!

Thank you! I may have to purchase a few cooling towels :)

I am really hoping we don't have too many issues with the fastpasses. I know it's going to be tough getting anything in Pandora.

That is good to know :) I have a feeling I am going to be doing a ton of laundry :laundy:

Yikes! I guess I can forget about getting a fastpass for anything in Pandora! Thanks for letting me know - we have never had APs so this is all new to me! I also realized that I will have to buy our magicbands if I want them for this trip. I didn't think of that either! That is good to know July weather is pretty similar to September.

I am really excited we will have so much time to enjoy the parks. :yay:

I am going to have to go back to see if I can find that rental - that is incredible! Thank you :)

One specific bit of advice is to wear waterproof shoes, as it typically rains a few hours per day in summer, & avoid wearing denim, which tightens & clings when wet.

The summer rain usually occurs mid-to-late afternoon, so I recommend booking outdoor ride FPs for before noon. I also recommend maximizing morning & evening touring whenever possible, as the weather is nicest early morning & late evening.
