We are taking DS to the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom in the middle of January. I've only been to WDW in the summer, so I have no idea of what to expect out of the weather or the crowd levels.

Could you shed some light? We will be down Jan. 20 and 21st. Saturday and Sunday.

Should we pack heavy coats? It's only going to be 36 degrees here today, so we are accustomed to the cold.

Will be figting for FastPasses or will be be able to walk on to most things?

Thanks in advance!!

The weather in January is completely unprediactable. You could have warm days (in the 80s) with cool mornings, or you could have mornings near freezing with afternoons in the 40s. Of course, you could also have anything in between! So pack a little of everything...

Crowds will be pretty light. January (after New Year's week) is one of the least crowded times of the year at WDW.

The crowds should be pretty light in January. We were down there during that time this year. I will say that on Saturday, the crowds at Magic Kingdom were heavier than when we went during the week - probably due to the fact that Spectromagic was being shown that night (it's only shown a few times during the week in slow periods).

The weather was wonderful when we went - low 60s in the morning, but mid to high 70s and even into the 80s during the day. We've been during the winter a lot - and you never can tell what the weather will be. Some times you'll need winter coats (even if you're from the North) - other times it will be much nicer. Just keep your eye on the weather channel and be prepared to pack a little bit of everything.

I have never been so cold as I have been in Disney World In January.
But it could be very warm as well but not very hot.

Bob P said it best "completely unpredictable".

We've been to WDW the past two years in January. The first year, the weather caught us off-guard. It got very cold at night - they were covering the flowers in blankets - and, even though we are from the north, we didn't have our cold-weather gear with us. It was miserable at night without gloves!!! Last year, we packed everything from bikinis to rain ponchos to parkas and found that the weather was glorious - nearing 80 every day with a small rain shower only one morning. We had a lot of luggage, but I was happy I was prepared.

Forgot to mention... it was a great time to be there because crowds were slim. Fast pass wasn't even open most places. I'd only expect waits for Soarin' and EE. Otherwise, you will be able to walk-on to a lot of the popular rides.
