Disney in January.... discuss?!

Have been far too many times before but never ever stayed in Disney hotel. Considering a trip from the UK my husband and I and our little girl who at that time be 20 months old. Are we mad?! We took her at 4 months and stayed in a private villa but we really want to go and indulge ourselves one more time and get the full experience before we grow our family or have to pay child prices for our daughter. I know she won't remember it but she would love it!

Having previously been at Christmas and shivered my way through the Magic Kindgom for MVMCP a few years ago we're very excited at the idea of going but also terrified that we'll be too cold to go to water parks etc!

All thoughts very welcome

Hi I went in Jan 08, and the weather is very similar to December - basically a mixed bag some cold days some warm days. We only had two or three cold days (and even then we just needed hoodies nto coats, hats and scarfs), and we just moved days around to manage it.

January is very quiet (bar holidays days), which is excellent and when we went the Christmas decorations were still up to mid Jan!

We were able to go to both water parks, and as I said before we just moved days around if needed

We are looking at January for when we go again even though it wont be for a few years As it is cooler and I just don't think I could cope with a little one in the humidity.

Are the water parks open in January? I thought they closed for refurbish in the winter.

Any way I look forward to also reading advice from people that have been this time of year.

We went this year and just missed as very cold spell, the last of it was on our first full day and it was freezing. Most of our trip was like a lovely spring day but still very cold in the morning and nights.

This was us in January this year in Sea World, note our holiday attire, honestly it was bitterly cold, but the crowds were low!

This year was freak weather though, we also had days where it was in the 80s and we went to Aquatica and Typhoon Lagoon which were both open, usually the Disney water parks alternate which one will be open for January, this year I think it should be TL that is closed and Blizzard Beach open.

The weather is changeable and you should be prepared for any eventuality!

ww have been in Jan - we has 1 really warm week -shorts and t-shirts and then 1 really cold week - coats and mittens- still had a good time tho...just be prepared.

The weather is too changeable for me personally.

We have enough stuff to take for a little one without having to pack for winter and summer!

I am dreading packing for November but we had no other choice this year due to work commitments.

We're now contemplating one week Orlando and one week Keys as I have never been down there before.

From previous experience there was always one water park closed in winter months but am sad to read that it might be TL this year as that is our fave.

Really confused as to whether we should just shelve it and go later on in the year...

I am a teacher but just resigned from my post effective from Christmas so I can concentrate on my own business and we really fancied a trip as soon as the school go back to celebrate.

After looking at prices this morning it would seem we can get free dining which is brill (isn't it?!) but the tickets for the parks are the same price for one or two weeks which makes it more cost effective to stay put in Orlando for the duration. Argh!!!

Virgin flight sale ends on 12th so need to hurry up and decide!

We have been for the last 2 Jan's. Last year we found it REALLY cold, the year before I dont think I ever made it into shorts but it definatly wasnt bitterly cold.

I think that if you are planning on spending most of your time at the parks then Jan is fab - nice and quite, no heat to slow you down, beautiful decorations. If you want to spend days lazing round the pool or like to visit beaches then I would maybe hold off a couple of months and try April time, I think the weather is more predictable during the spring and you could enjoy the sun a little more.
