We are planning on next trip to Disneyland and are trying to decide between going in February or June next year.

Is the park open very late in February and what is the weather like then??
Thanks

When I went to DL 2 years ago for President's week, the parks opened at 9 and closed at 8. Not very long hours for a holiday week. I'd assume that the slower periods in February have simliar or shorter hours. I'd go in June when, half of the month, the park is open from 8 to 12. Also, some rides are down in February; whereas, there are almost never rides down in June.

Feb: pros= light attendance. When weather is clear you have pleasant temperatures. Sometimes a short shower will scare off a whole bunch of people and you will have the park to yourselves. I usually plan longer stays during this time of year.
cons= when overcast it can be darn right cold. Occasionally, heavy rains that can last a long time. Park closes early Mon-Thurs (six or seven, I think) Often will be ride refurbs scheduled. (they want them finished before the busy season.

June: pros= longer hours, fewer ride closures. Weather can be great especially if you are staying at a nearby hotel with a pool. cons= Hot. Busy esp. during weekends. Hot. (Disneyland really is an asphalt jungle) Hotels are more expensive. Oh and did I mention it was Hot? (pray for smog, it'll cool things down a bit) hehe.

Yes the park will close earlier in Feb, and crowds will be bad around President's Day weekend. We went one year and the weather was actually quite pleasant, but cool in the evenings. I'm sure that can vary. You also tend to have some attractions down during the off season. Parades and fireworks on weekends only, that type of thing.

We like the second week of June. Usually the hours are later, no attractions down. Yet a lot of kids still in school so the crowds are managable. Weather is warm but not that HOT yet (we saw a huge difference between last week and when we were there last July. I couldn't bare it last year). The only problem with June is the grad nights, where they will close early (9 pm). We had that one night last week, but wasn't too big of a deal. :)

I went Feb 8-11 and June 8-10 just this year...my favorite out of the 2 would definitely be Feb...there were hardly any crowds and everything good was open ...the only things I didnt ride were splash and GRR because it was too cold to ride them...in June everything was open and I did ride both splash and GRR and it was great but it was hot and there were alot of people...I didnt swim at all so didnt matter...Feb. is my pick:thumbsup2

I totally agree with Lynn above, I was there with her both times and February definitely wins out crowd wise!!! Shorter hours doesn't really matter because you can do more in that time since there are NO lines!! Just avoid the holidays in February, otherwise that will be busy!

We have gone twice in late June early July, with careful planning you shouldn't have any crowd problems in June, plus the weather is better and everything is open. For me to go to DL and not ride splash because it is too cold and several other rides because they are closed for maintenace would be a real pain.

Like it was already mentioned, though, avoid Presidents' week. It's busy, busy, busy. I've heard any other week in Feb. is great! Weather is unpredictable, though. When we were there this year the first day had record highs, a couple days later it was rainy and cold.

As much as I hate to encourage others to go during my favorite time, I would vote for Feb. It's really never that cold in Anaheim. That's one reason Walt built the park there to begin with. Usually in the 60s or maybe high 50's during the day in Feb. I tend to run a little warm as it is, so this is comfortable for me in long sleeves and a sweatshirt. The lower crowds make it all worth it for my family. You'll rarely wait longer than 5 minutes for anything except Indy and Space.
