Disney in December

We went for our first Dec trip this past year 2-10 and went to the mvmcp on Dec 7 Sunday. We thought it was great. We watched some of the christmas shows and rode a lot of the rides. The only time we noticed long lines was after a show ended but didn't last long. The lines for the pictures was long for most of the night. We waited till near the end of the evening then had our pictures taken. Not much of a line then. Fireworks were awesome. Would definitely go again.

I just came back from my first December trip, and all the firsts I got to do-it was great! I'm surprised no one's mentioned the Candlelight Processional. In the week I was there, I went to see it 3 times, one of which was the CP Package. So moving-if that doesn't put you in the Christmas spirit, you must be a real scrooge! And don't miss the Epcot tree lighting ceremony. I hope to go in December again.

We were there from 12/12-12/17 this year. We did MVMCP on Sunday, the 14th. The crowds were certainly managable. I wouldn't go on a Friday night tho. In fact, if I had it to do over again, I would probably do the Tuesday night party. We did enjoy it a lot though. And we loved Candlelight Processional. It is held in the outdoor theater across from the American area of World Showcase. It has a 50 (or so) member orchestra and about 150 person choir. There is a celebrity narrator who reads the Christmas story and then the choir sings appropriate Christmas songs. It is incredibly beautiful. I would suggest that if you do this, you take part in the CP dinner package. It's a little pricey, but you get a decent sit-down meal and you get to be seated before the non-dinner people. The seats are better since you get admitted earlier. I would also suggest that you don't try to sit right in the front row. It's a little too close for me.
The different countries also have story tellers from that specific country. We loved the troll in Norway. But, I liked St. Nicholas in GErmany also!! Oh, I just can't choose which one I like the best. The story times are listed in the park guide map. I really loved Epcot/World Showcase during the holidays.

An unfortunate situation caused the Dec. 6, 2002 MVMCP to be overcrowded. The weather was absolutely horrid the night before for the Thur. party, and many people asked for their money back. Disney, in their infinite wisdom, did not refund their money, but gave many guests tickets for Friday night's party, which was already sold out! That created an overcrowded party, and the results that Tracy mentioned. It is usually a very enjoyable experience, as long as you stay clear of Friday nights!

Thanks JamesD. That eases my mind. I was really looking forward to attending MVMCP this year but that crowd situation made me think twice. I will definitely try it and go during the mid week if possible.

Well thanks for clearing that up JamesD but it really wasnt fair what they did to us considering the amount of money you spend just going to the parks then 100 dollars to go to MVMCP. Maybe one day I will try it again and will have a better experience.
