Day 10, Sunday December 14th

The cast…

Me, Erika, 34, Disney obsessed for as long as I can remember
DH, Steve, 36, extremely tolerant of my obsession, loves Disney vacations
DS, Matthew, 10 ½, loves Disney World, tried many new things this trip
DD, Alexa, 7 (almost 8), as Disney crazy as I am

Today started as my last day always does, with me crying in the shower because I don’t want to go home. I am such a sap. Nothing exciting today, just packing up and catching a plane. We took a box to the business center to ship home, since we always buy more than will fit in our bags. On the way to the airport we stopped at the Marketplace to buy a couple of last things and get lunch. Did I mention earlier that we left our ponchos at home? Did I mention that it was raining today? Well, it was raining today, make that pouring!!!!!!!! Wow, cat’s and dogs. That said I’d rather have been wet at the parks than going to the airport, I envied all of those people going to the bus stops in their ponchos. Ds had been begging to spend his Disney Dollars on the Contemporary and switch station for his monorail and we finally gave in. We told him he could buy it but it would have to be shipped home (oddly enough it arrived today while I am typing this up). We ate at McDonalds and headed for the airport. Alexa got sick in the car on the way. She has done this on every trip, and I am not sure why. She doesn’t throw up on the way there, only the way back. This time I was prepared, I had swiped some air sickness bags on the plane. As it turns out, she was really sick this time, and missed the entire week of school after we came home. The flights were uneventful and we returned home safe and sound to the cold weather and snow.

My final thoughts…

The crowds were great, picked up a little at the end of the week, but still totally manageable. We didn’t wait in many lines at all.

Netgrocer, still will not answer my e-mails or their phones. Won’t be using them again.

Large groups of people. We encountered this one group of people twice. The first at MGM at the boat dock. The line for the boat was very long, and there were about 4 or 5 people up in the line a couple of people in front of us. As the boat pulled about, about 15 more people with their group showed up and walked to the front of the line with their friends. This caused some people at the end of the line to have to wait for the next boat. A lot of people were very unhappy. Then the next day at Epcot, they did the exact same thing at the dock. I don’t mind if you hold the line for a couple of your kids or a bathroom back, but not for a huge group just because you want to.

The Boardwalk, was wonderful. We are very happy with our choice to buy DVC with this as our home resort.

Our digital camera. Dh was so skeptical to even buy one at all, and I was not convinced totally but wanted a small camera when we don’t want to carry the SLR. While it can’t zoom like my SLR, on the outdoor pics, we cannot tell the difference between the pics taken with the two cameras. We were thrilled!!!!!

I’m sure I have many other thoughts, but it took me so darn long to write this that I can’t think of them at the moment.

If you are still with me thanks for reading. I know it’s not Delswife, but I did the best I could.

Enjoyed your report! Thanks for writing. I like re-living my October week while reading others' reports. Melanie

elgerber - Thanks for the great trip reports - I enjoyed them all. I'm planning a 'trip after this trip' for the same time next Dec and hope to bring my nephew (almost 7)- we'll also be at BWV and I know he'll love community hall, too - my DS did at that age. It really helped to hear how your DD reacted to the rides - I almost forget what it's like to take a younger child (mine are all so big!) - I'll have to remember that when I'm planning! Now I'm so excited to go over the holiday!:smooth:

Great reports. I loved that you posted them all at the same time. It was great getting the whole story at once. I am hoping to go next Dec. Hope we are as lucky with the crowds:D

Thanks for your great reports.

It sounds like you made some magical Disney memories with your family this trip.

Hi Erika!!! What a great trip you had! We were there Dec. 12-16. I had already forgotten about the rain that Sunday. It did eventually stop. But it was very cold. Like in the 50's!

It's always funny to find out that there are other people who cry at things like Wishes, Illuminations, and leaving! I always think I am the only one.

Sorry about netgrocer. Guess they didn't know about your 55,000 friends either! LOL

Thanks for sharing your great trip. Your kids sound super!!!

I finally heard from Netgrocer over the weekend! Nearly a month after my initial e-mail, and after my second e-mail about 10 days ago threatening to bad mouth them to my 55,000 friends LOL. They did not respond at all before now, nor would they answer their phones since then. Not what I expect for customer service. They are crediting my shipping charges, they say it's FedEx's fault.
