never been then
we always go Sept/Oct (for the last 6 years)

is it that much different in aug, in terms of weather and or crowds?

What can I expect? Please, the good, the bad , the UGLY!

HI there

We have gone the past few years the last week in August. While it is hot , we have found that the super small crowds made up for it. With the crowds being so small we really were not out in the heat that much since we were always on a ride. I am hoping to go again this summer. I love being able to just walk on most rides.

Yeah, it'll be hot alright, but if you're used to going in Sept, then you should be fine. Light crowds will make it even nicer.

We used to go in early September but we have gone late August for the past few years and we have found the August crowds are a little heavier but still manageable.

TC.

We went in August and the crowds are still there but not too bad, and the weather is sooo hot. I almost couldnt stand out to watch Cinderellabration in that sun.

If you are used to the weather in Sept, you won't have a problems with Aug. I'm a Florida resident, and I think that the weather in Sept is frequently hotter, stickier and more miserable than even Aug. Maybe thats just because by that time I'm so tired of "Africa hot", but thats just my opinion. If you go towards the end of Aug you can take advantage of lower hotel rates and lower crowds which is a big plus!

We went the first week in August, very hot. The crowds were not that bad, maybe a ten minute wait. Fast pass allowed us to just walk onto a ride. The longest I had to wait was for the TOT with probably a 1/2 hour wait. The one thing I hated was the rain. It rained everyday we were the for about an hour in the afternoon, then the sun baked us dry.

I love going in August. I prefer the 2nd to 3rd week which is what my original plans were this year but I found cheap airfare & I figured I wasn't going to get a code (and I haven't) that we are going the first week thru the 2nd week of August.

I love it.

I don't know where you live weather wise but I am in CT & it gets humid here, I'd say there are days I'd rathere be in FL then CT. The only difference is that at home, I'd be sitting in the a/c house/car or in a pool but in FL I am walking the park & I do leave mid-day to get a break from the sun too.

Two years ago we went at the end of August and the weather was just fine. Crowds were ok too.
Last August when we went, I thought we were gonna die! It was so hot and humid! We had to go back to the room every afternoon for a shower and nap. I'm referring to me and my 18 yr old son! It was pretty embarassing. We've never done that before, but it was just too miserable.
But, my point is; it's the luck of the weather fairy! :tinker:
We still have fun, it's just more laid back. No biggee.

We have gone in August a few times and it is a wonderful time. It is very hot, but if you plan ahead and do EMH and head back in the afternoons when it is really miserable out ... it works well. The crowd levels are relatively low. And you get the lower hotel rates! :)

Funny you ask.....this past year...2007...we went to WDW for 1 week August 6 -13....OMG was it HOT...as a matter of fact...it seemed as though FL was having some type of heat wave...the newscasters had said that with the humidity and the head index it was like 106 degrees...LOL....we had been to FL in February, April and November a couple of times...this was by far the hottest!! The crowds were not as bad as April (as it was Easter week) but not nearly as light as the November trips. We did have to wait in line....but we just made sure to have a lot of frozen strawberry lemonades!! :thumbsup2 It was so hot a couple of mornings (8:30am) that as soon as you stepped outside....to catch the ferry boat ride to MGM or Epcot (we were at the Boardwalk) that you immediately started perspiring!! While it is hot here in Red Sox nation in August....I would much prefer to be in WDW and perspire than home!! Unless of course the sox are on the way to another Championship!!

I'm going in August too. I hope it's not crazy hot...dh will never let me live it down. What time of the year to go has always been the bone of contention between us. He didn't want to take dd out of school and I didn't want to go during school vacation. For us, that meant late June, July,or August. I thought August might be less crowded. He is still complaining about the heat though. I said, 'we get 90 degree days here too! At least in WDW we have a pool at our disposal.' I'm keeping my fingers crossed for normal heat!

I think we were there the same week. One day the heat index was 110. We figured we would go to all of the late extra magic hour parks. All that happened after dark was the humidity went from 92% to 99%. Also everyone else had the same idea and these parks were very busy.

August is very HOT but we do late August or Labor Day weekend every year. August you tend to get afternoon showers. And glasses and cameras steam up the moment you walk outside in the morning.

It's hot in August and somewhat crowded. Crowds lessen as the month goes on. Oh, and did I mention, it's hot!:lmao:

We were there the week after you the heat wave continued we headed home 8/19, we had days 107. We spent a lot of time in the pool.:thumbsup2 We went in Aug. 06, a week later it was around 85-90. Not as crowded that week. so guess you can never tell what the weather will be.
