Has anyone here seen the Disney On Ice "100 Years of Magic" show? It's coming to Philly soon. My mom asked me if I wanted to see it, and I'm balking. I think ice skating shows, Disney or not, are corny. If any of you have seen this particiular show, what can I expect? Which characters are in it, and whatnot.(I was told that Belle is in this show.) Any comments will be appreciated.

P.S. I have seen posts about the Disney ice shows in the past, and I've seen nothing but praise for them. But still I think these shows are corny, as well as a marketing tool for the Disney Company. I don't want to pay $40 or whatever to see advertising messages.

Ok, here comes more corn. ;)
I havent seen this particular show but we did see Toy Story 2 last year. We were very impressed! When the show started both my kids(then just turned 2 & 5) sat there with eyes wide open staring at it. They loved it and we thought it was cute too. Not so much for the skating part(which was very good), but more for the Disney "fix". The show was well done just like most stuff Disney does. To me whether it was ice or not, I felt like I was at one of the shows in WDW. Of course, it lasted longer than those, but it was worth it.
I would go to another one if we get the chance.

I just purchased tickets to the 100 years of magic ice show~ I am driving 5 hrs to see this~ we live in the sticks so that really isnt that far for us~Do a search for the ice show because I asked the same question a couple of weeks ago and received alot of information.

Our family has seen both the Toy Story show and the Jungle Adventures show and loved them both! It was fun to get a Disney fix! :)

I'll have to look and see if that show is coming near us...

I saw the 100 years of Magic show. It was super! It starts with a Pinnochio sequence. There's also a Disney Princesses sequence -- each princess comes out -- Aurora, Belle, Cinderella, Jasmine and Ariel -- and twirls around the ice with their princes. One sequence I enjoyed was the tribute to the electric light parade -- four floats go around the ice with Small World dolls on them. My favorite sequence, though, was Mulan. They did the entire movie on ice in 15 minutes -- including the battle scene -- increadible!

Having described the show, I will admit it is a big Disney ad. I don't mind that -- in fact, it makes me wax nostalgic about my last trip to Disney -- and want to plan my next trip. But to each his own. If you don't like ice shows or heavyhanded Disney, then save your time and money.

im glad you enjoyed the 100 years ice show~ did you notice if you were allowed to bring cameras/video cameras? thanks

hi all, where can i find out what towns this is going to be in?
thanks,misty:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

whrilsy, I don't know what the official word is on cameras and videotaping but I can tell you that there were many people there videotaping almost the entire performance.

I just saw the disneyonice.com site, and I think their description of the 100 years show is a bit wanting. They show some pictures of it, but I don't see any princesses. What beachbunny described must have been brief.

The thing is, I want not so much to see the characters as to meet them. I haven't been to Disney World in 6 years, and I miss seeing my favorite characters so much. I'm sorry, these ice shows are just not for me.:( As much as I love Belle, I'd rather see her at the parks than watching her skate from the 'nosebleed' section of the arena.

P.S. Philly gets the "Princess Classics" show just after Christmas. Anyone seen that one?

JohnMouse, I got an email from Comcast-Spectacor a couple of weeks ago about VIP tickets to Disney on Ice that included club seats, buffet, and a meet and greet with the characters. If you'd consider getting these tickets, I'd suggest checking out the comcast-spectacor website to see if they're still offering these tickets.

From my experience, you can bring video cameras but, don't try using them!! I was shut down within 60 seconds!! :(

100 years of magic was here in july, Is aw it 4 times, twice as part of media in Sydney. You can take al lthe photos you want, but even as media, we got hassled at times for videoing!!We did most of the show!! I loved this show, atthe end you can get close to the characters, when I interveiwed Mulan and Geppeto, they mentioned this is the first show to do this. It is well worth going to!!!

Just a few weeks ago, we saw the Princess Classics show. We were about four rows from the front...tickets were about $22 each (I thought it was a reasonable price). I thought the show was *great*, both for the Disney touches AND the ice-skating...but I love both Disney AND watching ice-skating! :) Yes, you can bring cameras and take pictures, but no video taping is allowed....

On another thread, I saw where there is audience interaction with characters during the show. How is this done? I can't see the characters coming up the aisles to greet everyone.

At the end of the show, they allow thoseo n teh floor seats ( here it was the expensive tickets) to go up tothe outside of the ice and touch shake etc thecharacters. It was cool, I got photos with Donald and Poomba

Dh just took 6yodd to her 1st Daisy Girl Scout event to Disney on Ice. She got her first patch.:D :D :D You just don't know how excited she was to get her first patch and it was Disney!!!
I had to take older dds troop to spend the night at the Science Center Planatarium, so I couldn't go .:(

BTW is Disney on Ice & 100yrs of magic 2 different shows?

There are several different Disney on Ice shows playing currently in North America and Europe. "100 Years of Magic" is one of them--there's also "Disney Classics" with Snow White, Ariel and the Dalmatians; "3 Jungle Adventures", with scenes from Jungle Book, Lion King and Tarzan; a "Toy Story 2" show; "Princess Classics", which describes itself; and finally Beauty and the Beast. BatB is not touring the US currently-it's in England now.

My family and I saw the Disney Classics Show last month--it was great!! Luckily for us, we went on opening night, so ALL tickets were $10 (except the VIP section, of course.)

My dh, who didn't really care for Toy Story 2 on ice absolutely loved this show.
