Disney hotels - what's the deal with the additional perosn (AP)?

Hi All. I've seen this mentioned a number of times where people have added in additional party members after the initial booking. Can someone please explain how it works? Many thanks

When we visit, we book a room for my partner and our two children. That gets us park passes for her and the kids get theirs free on the Kids under 7 stay and play free offer.

I have an AP (for all the discounts) and so I don't add myself to the booking until we check in. We just tell them that there's an extra guest who wants to stay on a B&B basis.

They're supposed to make you pay tax (about 1e a day per extra person) but in the 3 times we've done it they've only ever asked once.

We've booked again for December and are only paying £270 for 4 nights at the Cheyenne

it can work out a cheaper way of staying onsite for sure - but remember, including the extra guests you intend adding to the room when you check in, you still can't go over the maximum occupancy for the room (ie 4 guests plus one infant maximum).

Thanks for the replies. I'm not really sure what our best option would be then to be honest. There are 4 of us (kids will be 4 and 1 when we go) and we already have annual passes. Do you tend to add in the additonal person if just booking the hotel on it's own or as part of a package? Obviously we wouldn't need tickets etc and would probably book our own flights.

it depends whats cheapest - go look online for a one-adult booking for the dates and hotel you're interested in (both your kids are under 7 so they would go free on a package). Then phone Disney to get a room-only price with your AP. And then book whichever one is cheapest .

If you all have annual passes then you might be best just finding a room only on expedia or similar. I know there's some really good deals for November and December at the moment.

Just wondering has anyone ever arrived and been asked to pay the full rate, I am seriously considering doing this for our next trip, just paying for me and possibly 2 free under 12's (niece & nephew) and adding Liam on when we get there and then purchasing an AP at the park for him but do they ask to see the AP for the added on guest at check in?

no, they don't ask for any kind of park ticket/AP details for the person you are adding to the room when you check in. This is because, its possible the person you are adding doesn't want to go to the parks, they may wish to visit Paris instead etc.

I have never heard of anyone having to pay anything more than local tax of around 2 euros per night for the extra person, and when we did it at the Santa Fe last we weren't charged anything extra at all.

Our honeymoon is currently booked in just my H2B's name, as I already have an annual pass. It's going to look a bit suss if I send a chancer email for a honeymoon for one!

no, they just change your hotel easypass to show the total number of guests now booked into the room, so this covers everyone for breakfast and EMH entry etc .

if you are a shareholder, you can get 15% off the cost of an annual pass, and there are also reduced price annual passes on promoparcs and cemultiavantages.

We're hoping to do this next April as we're planning to go again the following Christmas so it makes sense to get APs. I have been looking at prices between Nov and March and the Expedia room only rates look unbelievably cheap (£186 for 3 nights at Cheyenne for 1 adult and 2 under 7s). I just wanted to ask if anyone knows if we are likely to get similar rates in mid-April? Do Expedia always have these room only rates? Our dates are not available yet, it only seems to go up to the end of March at the moment. I really hope we can get a good deal, we're going for my mum's 60th and I'd love to treat her to a stay onsite if possible, as we have always stayed offsite in the past.

Expedia winter dates prices are always good - but no, in April you won't get anything like those prices for the onsite hotels (this year it was around £130 per room per night at the Santa Fe and Cheyenne for April/May/June on Expedia with no park tickets included). If you'd consider offsite but nearby for your April trip, you could still get hotels for around £70 per night at that time, but not onsite.

Ahh I thought you'd probably say that, it did seem too good to be true

We stayed at the Elysee this year and it was great, very convenient using the train as well so we'll probably stay there again.
