Sorry I know this is a daft question :) but I assume when we settle our bill at the Polynesian in April that we can pay by cash?
I am just thinking they will require a credit card on check-in, which is fine, but really feel I would prefer to pay by cash.

Yes, you can settle the bill using cash. Like you said, they will still require a credit card on check-in for incidentals and security, but the card won't be charged if you settle the bill in-full with your cash before check-out.

You definately can pay in cash but you might be best to go to the desk the night before check out to pay the balance as sometimes they automatically charge it in the morning.

Just wanted to add that i paid in cash for everything and never put a card on the room. it just meant i did not have room charging facilities which worked fine for me, i only spent what i had;) trust me, this was a very wise plan for me:lmao:

As Claire said, they will ask for a card for security but you will be asked at check-in if you want an amount put onto your room key (I think that the max is $1500) but you don't have to & all it means is that you don't have to give in to temptation! I'm sure that you could also put a cash amount on ,if your doing DDP I would advise this as it makes leaving a tip easier -the bill would advise 2 amounts 18% & 20%,we always tended to round up to the nearest $5 which doesn't sound much but does add up over the course of your holiday!

Just a question do you have to have a credit card on your room key to have things you buy sent back to your room??

Its our first time on resort and i dont really want to put a credit card on, way too much temptation.

I would say go to reception the night before and pay your bill with cash. This is what we planned to do last year at the Poly but forgot! The morning of check out they had already billed or credit card. Totally our fault for not doing it the night before. It just ment that we bought $ back with us that we can use this year.

Bombhead no,it's just done on your roomkey ,with or without cash on it,worth mentioning though that packages don't go to your room but to the gift store in your resort, they then leave a message on your room phone to tell you to go & pick them up.

Not a problem, but if you intend using your credit card after leaving Poly, you may have a reduced limit as when, upon checking in, all hotels "ring fence" some of your allowance, just incase you run off!! The hold on your balance normally "drops off" after a few days, but if causes a problem, you may need to phone your company and ask them to release it again. Hope this makes sense!!

You dont have to leave a credit card to have chragin facilities, we leave them travellers cheques or cash to say the value of $300 and that gives us chargin facilities to that value and we know what we have instead of them taking a card number and then we have to pay that off.

We have done this on several trips and we dont have a credit card and its worked fine for us and both sets of parents when they came out for our wedding last year
