HI - I was just wondering about the special Home schooling days - how do they work? Do parents get special ticket prices too since they have to accompany their children? Are their programs available for K, 1 and 4th graders?

Im all Ears!!! lol

Do we know 2011 dates? Is it offered only 1x/year??

Thanks~!!

They usually offer Homeschool days twice a year. They just finished up the Sept. event. The January one is scheduled for Jan 24 and 25. It looks like the January event will be at AK.

Thanks!

Do you know if the adult price for tickets is also discounted since they are expected to attend the classes with the younger kids?

Has anyone done these before?

I just did the YES program with My DD6 last week. We were not a part of a group, they had open enrollment dates. The program was free for the first class but park admission is required. I also did not pay for my class. My 7 day hoppers were around $350 total for DD and myself. I think like $170ish each. The program was great, we really enjoyed it. They have classes for all ages.

We are interested in going next year hopefully. DD's 7 & 10 are in private school this year, but we will most likely be homeschooling next year and would love to go. Does anyone know how many attend and what this does for crowd levels?

There are not that many homeschoolers and we have gone for HS days.....it is NOT crowded with hsers, but January does bring in huge Brazilian tour groups! It still isn't bad.

It is typically the 3rd week of September and the 3rd week of January. It is $160 or so for a 5 day hopper and 4 vouchers to the water parks/and/or DisneyQuest.

Even though the actual hs days are the particular week, the passes are good for the week before and the week after just in case you can't make it the actual week of the event. So you have a full 21 days to use them, although they are only good for 14 days after you initially use them, if that makes sense.

These passes have RUINED my kids.....before they had visited Disney Quest or the water parks they were blissfully unaware of them.....now they are a bit upset this year because we told them we are ONLY buying passes for the 4 parks (APs).

I have never been to HS days in September. My husband's work schedule doesn't allow him to go then, so we haven't been. Many like Sept because of the free dining, but we prefer the weather in January! We are also a family of 5 and like to stay off-site in a condo for less.....

Dawn,
So you are saying that the passes bought through Homeschool Days would be valid not only the week of Jan 24 (Monday) but also the week before (Jan 17-23) and the week after (Jan 31-Feb 6)?

Yes.

Since you have to call to order them, I would verify that before placing your order, but that is what I was told when I asked about any extenuating circumstanses like illness, etc....

You will miss the homeschool activity as it is only on the day given, but you are not required to attend that.

Thanks Dawn. I'll verify that when we call for the tickets. Since we drive to Florida from PA, we sometimes get stuck in PA due to the winter weather. I'd hate to miss both the Homeschool Days events and not be able to use our tickets when the roads clear out.

Where can I find out more information about Homeschool Days? What are these classes you keep talking about?

another question - we have APs - is there any way dd could take one of the classes without us purchasing park tickets (since we don't need them)

thanks!

You can PURCHASE the homeschool activity seperately if you have APs, but it is not free. I think it is $26 each.

http://www.disneyyouth.com/youth-education-series/

Go to the top tabs and click on "Education". A menu will come down and one of the menu items will say, "Homeschool." Click on that and you can see all the information.

It looks like January dates are not up yet.

We are going in January the week the classes are offered. DS is homeschooling this year and am interested in doing this with him. We already have a packaged booked, so can you get the tickets with a package or do you have to book everything separately? Thanks!

The Y.E.S. program tickets are only available through the Y.E.S. phone number, so I don't think there is any way to combine them. I am not sure though as we never stay on property anymore.

Thanks! I will probably just change us to a room only ressie then. It will be cheaper and I can pay it off when we get there as well instead of by the first week of December. I just have one more question. I was looking at the different ticket options and prices and the longest I saw was a five day pass. Do they have a six or seven day available? We have seven days planned right now, but if I have to cut back to five days, I will. Also,I already had our Animal Kingdom day planned and it is on the homeschool day. :cool1: Thanks again!
