Disney Hollywood Studios renaming

How about Not Universal Studios?

Seriously the # of people that think Universal is one of the Disney parks is mind boggling. These are the same folks who use Disney World and Magic Kingdom interchangeably.
There are those of us old enough to remember when Disney World had only one Park and the Magic Kingdom did mean Disney World.

But if you'd like to be nostalgic, it took me some time to write Epcot, not EPCOT.

And I got over calling Hollywoods Studios by it's proper name, instead of the MGM name I had come to know.

Lastly, I try to correct my use of Fantasmic with the proper Fantasmic! (the exclamation point is important for some).

Then again, I come from NY, where the 'City' means Manhattan Island.

People are funny (and not too bright) sometimes.

I still type EPCOT, not Epcot.

I agree with something about film, and I think Hollywood has a nice ring to it, but movies aren't necessary being made there anymore. The new Star wars movie was mostly filmed at Pinewood in London for one example. If they keep moving away from there it won't have as much of a relevance.

Personally, if they called it "Lucasfilm Adventures" I'd be super stoked :-p. Perhaps they could open a counter service restaurant "Uncle Owen's BBQ"? Okay, maybe that was in poor taste! But I agree with your point it should have a film reference in its Park name, in the spirit of its history.

Disney's Movie Kingdom. That will make 3 out of 4 ending in Kingdom. Then they can rename EPCOT to EPCOTK.

There's been a lot of speculation that it will be Disneys Hollywood adventure. I don't think they will go with disney studios Florida because of the similarity to universal studios, Florida.

CineMagic Adventures? I agree that Disney Studios Florida is too similar to Universal Studios, Florida, but I certainly don't get paid the big bucks for my opinion!

Not really any more similar than the names used for decades in California- "Paramount Studios," Universal Studios," "Disney Studios," "ABC Studios," "Burbank Studios," Warner Bros. Studios," etc.

BTW, I doubt that DHS will be renamed "Disney Studios, Florida."
It was just my non-clever thought when I read the thread title.

No idea .. .. while they are redesigning a lot of the park .. I can't see them getting rid of the whole Hollywood theme in the front of the park. So you'd think the name would still be tied to that.

From the Tower of Terror to the Great Movie Ride is still a great themed area (personally one of my favorite areas to walk through at night) ... (Rock n Roller Coaster just doesn't fit thematically in this park to me (despite being a fun ride).

I enjoyed the whole "movie making" theme and attractions (like Indiana Jones, The animation studio, The Sound Studio, Backlot tour, and the more recent car stunt show) .. but they never really kept up with that .. and once you've done it once .. was hard to keep up.

Hopefully they add a Star Wars themed area (similar to Harry Potter world at Universal) .. but I don't know what a theme park with a Star Wars Land and an old Hollywood land would be called ...

The Studios. Simple as that. Just call it "The Studios" and have each area set up as though it is the studio for that specific area. Do a major expansion and give each area some better definition. You would have Disney Studios, Hollywood Studios, Pixar Studios, Muppet Studios, and Lucas Studios. You'd be able to keep just about everything currently in the park, but might have to relocate some things to other areas of the park (Sci Fi closer to Sunset Blvd. for example) and some things might need a slight retheme (changing Hollywood and Vine to "Route 66" or something similar but keeping the Disney Jr. characters and moving it to Disney Studios). You can bring back some old Fantasyland favorites for Disney Studios and include some backstory areas as to how the rides came to be. Taking from Disneyland and DCA would help to fill in Pixar Studios with Mike and Sully to the Rescue, Jumpin' Jellyfish, Mater's Junkyard Jamboree, and maybe even Radiator Springs Racers (which would work great where Backlot Tour once was). Major Star Wars expansion for Lucas Studios, of course, but also another Indy ride. Muppets needs more though. A high action roller coaster themed after The Great Gonzo, The Great Muppet Movie Ride that was originally planned, and Swedish Chef's restaurant would be good additions. It seems like "The Studios" would be a name that would fit with the park.
