Disney Has Stopped Stopping at Nassau

it read like they've cancelled 'excursions' on the island. So the ships might still dock there but you're on your own if you get off.

I heard they just cancelled the Segway tours. They are still docking at Nassau.

That's good. If the ships stop coming, maybe the Gov't of Nassau will do something....

This is understandable. From a legal point of view, cruise companies certainly don't want to set themselves up for potential lawsuits. Also, I'm sure on some level the safety of their guests is a prime concern.

Living in FL, we often take incredibly cheap, last minute cruises on Carnival, and it's gotten to the point that we don't even get off of the ship in Nassau.

Even in large groups, the contempt and downright hatred some of the locals have for cruise ship passengers is palpable. Again, I understand this, but that doesn't mean I want to be a part of it, either.

Keith and I both felt a feeling that came very close to being threatened the last time we were there. I suspect there were some other issues going on that I don't need to get into here. I hate to see things come to this, but we won't be returning anytime soon.

I wish there was someplace other than Nassua for the ship to stop at on short cruise. Plus Castaway Cay, of course.

DW and I were just in Nassau on a Disney cruise in July and we didn't have any perception of not being safe. We hadn't been in Nassau for several years so we thought Nassau would be a fun stop and we were right.

We decided not to take a Disney approved excursion. We took a tour with a taxi driver who was better than most tour guides we've experienced. He showed us around the island and was very easy to have a conversation with.

After the tour we did some shopping at the port and, again, did not feel uneasy after being there.

We have a neighbor across the street from us that was in Nassau in September and she had a similar experience in Nassau.

I guess we were fortunate (lucky?).

Disney should've taken that dump off their itineraries long ago. Here's hoping.
