Hi! I feel as if Disney has ruined us for all future vacations! For the last 2 years we went to Disney! We loved it! This year people are telling "Dont you think you should lay off Disney for a while". I've been thinking about where we would want to go, other then Disney, and I cant come up with a single location! Nothing is as fun and exciting as Disney! if I was to find something I am interested in (bahamas, cruise, etc.) those vacations are WAY more expensive.

I cant believe how afordable Disney is! We stayed value both last year and the previous year.....I paid $82 a night! You cant find that room rate anywhere else! Plus we had free dining! What a steal!

Where are some other locations to vacation in, that are not super expensive? If I get my way....We will be back at Disney this summer!:thumbsup2

we just had our first trip to disney in Jan 2110 and fell in love with the Disney expercience we choose off season and had no wait times loved it had the dining plan loved it and even got in on a gift card with our room really loved that we are already plannign to go back this SEPT. cant wait we want to go back every year unless you have been hit by the magic you cant understand it

You should try one of the disney cruise's. We went a few years ago and we loved it. It was not to bad priced either. You get all your food and drink included in the price. We trade off between disney world and disney cruise. It is so nice and relaxing. I can not wait to go back next year :)

LOL We're the same way. My kids are 6 and 5 and have been to WDW 6 and 5 times. I almost get annoyed when a few lovely people in our social circle repeatedly turn their noses up and say "Aren't you sick of it? Why are you going again?" No. Not sick of it. Going again because we love love love it! One day it will get old and when it does, we'll go somewhere else. I'm certain of it.

Now as far as the Disney cruise, I wholeheartedly disagree that it's affordable. My SIL invited the four of us to go with her family in June for a 5 night cruise. My only desire was to have a porthole, so we were talking middle-of-the-road accommodations. Our total (without a flight down there) was over $8000. We could go to WDW for WEEKS for that amount either camping in our travel trailer or in a value resort. I'm sure the cruise is wonderful and I sincerely hope to do it one day, but I just couldn't spend that kind of money on it when my little ones are pretty clinging and probably wouldn't do the kids' stuff anyway.

I say if you're still loving WDW, keep going.

When we went on the disney cruise we went for 4 nights and had just a standared state room. We had 3 people and it coast us 1500 hundred. So for us it was not a bad price at all. With four people i priced it a while ago and i did a 5 night one and it was 3600 hundred with a port hole. So still not to bad more than disney but still not to bad.

If we could go to Disney every year the way we like to vacation, I'd absolutely do it! We spend about $4,000 for 10 days and just can't talk ourselves into spending that much every year. We do smaller vacations on our non-disney years and we can't afford to take the smaller trips AND do Disney every year. We spent a week at Va Beach in '09 and did a lot of 1 or 2 nt closer to home things (cedar point, camping, Kalahari etc..). We want the kids to see Niagra Falls, Washington DC, the mountains etc...,our off-Disney years can be used for those vacations.

There's nothing like Disney, though! I want my kids to experience other vacations but we're doing Disney every other year because it's got awesome all over it..from beginning to end. :yay:

We are going to WDW this year and then trying the Disney cruise in '12. The kids are already excited about the cruise! I've priced it and yes, I think a 7night cruise will cost us more than a 10day WDW vacation....but we want to try it, even if it's just once!

We love Disney, it is an easy, enjoyable place to take our family trip.

That said, I want my children to also see other cultures, countries, try different foods, meet the people, I want them to have the travel bug.

So NO it won't be our only holiday spots.

To tell the truth, they enjoyed the month long road trip from LA to Vancouver as much as the 5 days at Disneyland California we did earlier this year.

We used to be like that. When DS was small I couldn't think of anywhere else to go and so we went to WDW year after year. As he got older, he became curious about other places and his curiosity sparked mine. Now we go to WDW but also try to see more of the world. YMMV but the world is a fascinating place! I only wish that we could travel to Europe and elsewhere but budget constraints keep us in the U.S. That's OK because this country has plenty to see and learn about.

That's how we are right now, it's really the only place we all want to go. My Mom is like why are you going back again & I was like why not. :thumbsup2

We love Disney too! It is a whole family thing though (aunts, uncles, cousins etc). We want to do other things as well, my DH isn't into Disney parks. We go to DL at least once a year and we are planning our 3rd trip to WDW for Xmas time. That will probably be our last there for a few years, it costs a lot to go out there from CA and waiting for the refurbs to be done.
We are also waiting for our youngest to be a little older to do some of the things we really want to do, like Europe and HI.

We want to enjoy it with the kids while we can!!!!

I agree. We have had as much fun in a cabin on the lake in the Adirondacks, or traveling the country in a minivan. I did appreciate wdw when the kids were little, though.

My boys are 11 and 14 we started going to disney in 2004 and have gone every year since. Over this time frame we have also visited Hilton Head SC, disney cruise x2, royal carribean cruise x2, Branson MI, Las Vegas, disneyland, going to Washington DC in June. We still love disney the most. Yes we vacation alot:banana: I should be researching my DC trip but nooooo I'm on the dis board.:surfweb: If I could only do 1 vaca a year it would be disney.:cloud9:

I am trying to talk my dh into NOT taking a summer vacation so we can save to go back next winter. It has been waaaay too long!! I need my fix!:yay:

Agreed. Our first family trip was over ten years ago for DS1 first birthday in April 2000. Had his first haircut on mainstreet. Then we continued to go every year. We went back to pursue post-graduate degrees and everytime we looked to get away, WDW was the best for our budget due to when we were traveling (early December). Ds2 had his first haircut on mainstreet as well, but at 6 months and he needed it.

We have been traveling to WDW 1-2 times a year sine 1999. We finally (this past month) bought into the vacation club.

We been other places in that time..Cedar Point, Kings Island, DC (multiple times), Pittsburgh (lots and close, but lots to do), San Francisco (DS1 still thinks this was for his 6th birthday), San Diego, and VA Beach (which cost way more than a typical disney vacation.)

Looking forward to our first DVC stay this April.

Wow...that's a dramatic difference. I wonder why the weeks we were looking at were so darn expensive. $3600 doesn't rock my world, but $8000 did! Glad it worked out for you and hopefully we'll get to do it one day too. :thumbsup2

I'm totally hooked on Disney and am always trying to find a way to go back but make sure we see other places as well. We've been to San Diego (more times than I can count), Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, Branson, Wash DC, San Carlos, Mexico, Bahamas (on DCL), lots of smaller places in Az.

I looked up diffrent ones diffrent places and diffrent times and the price went way up. So it all depends on were you go, how long you go for and what time of year. We went to the bahama's and that is were we planned on going again when i got my price for 3600. But when i looked up the caribbean i think it was 5 to 7 days and it was around 7600. So it all depends on what you are looking for. I hope you will get to try it one day it really is a wonderful vacation to go on.

I have never vacationed anywhere besides WDW, because it has everything I could want in a vacation. A beach with hammocks, great food, great entertainment in rides and shows, great resorts, anything I could want or need I can find in WDW.

Are you sure your not married to my husband. That's all he wants to do for vacation is go to Disney. We have family in Canada, and rather than visit them, he would rather go to Disney and have a relaxing time. We also go budget and stay Value. It was one of the best decisions we made to go to Disney the first time. I wish we could afford to go every year, but for now every 2-3 years will have to do.

We have to fly and with 6 in our family that cost alone could equal a second vacation :rotfl: We are not into spending 5 thousand dollars for ONE trip especially since I want my family to enjoy a variety of different kinds of vacations throughout the year.

Every summer we take a week long vacation in the Canadian mountains at a resort that we love!!! The rest of the year we fit in times for skiing in the mountains of New England (downhill and cross-country), going to water parks and amusement parks all over the northeast, camping on weekends and assorted overnights to various festivals and fairs. I do love Disney but we need more variety than that. We are now trying to fit in an annual Disney trip but it will be budget...................auto train and off-property lodging. I have no doubt we will have JUST as much fun as a big budget vaca and will have the added benefit of loads of fun spread out over the course of the rest of the year as well.

When people say it's 'cheaper' than "most" other vacations I honestly have to scratch my head. Exactly what kind of vacation do they have in mind???? Clearly they spend their money much differently than we do.

:)
