Disney has lost its collective mind

Take her to Disney Hong Kong. Senior's are $13 They should have senior prices at all Disney parks.

I hope this was sarcasm. My husband I qualify for "seniors". Both AARP members. You realize that starts at age 50? We ride just about everything at Disney World. We both work full time. Why should we get a discount because we are "seniors". Heck - people still disagree over a child versus adult rules and the throw in "seniors"? What about people of any age who just can't do certain attractions because of limitations? Let's have 50 different choices for tickets then. "Rides without back and neck restrictions", "Pregnant", "No thrill rides", "No roller coasters", "Only thrill rides, no kiddie rides", "Only outdoor rides, scared of the dark", "No rides with water of any kind", etc, etc, etc.

I don't think the post you were referring to was sarcastic, simply another poster pointing out that DLHK offers senior pricing on their tickets. There's nothing wrong with doing it all while saving a nice chunk of change in the process. :confused3

I guess this is one of those times a "sarcasm" font would be helpful.

I thought "for the love of humanity" made it pretty obvious I wasn't playing it straight. Assuming the whole "they're eliminating e-tickets!" thing didn't do the job. :confused3

But while I was being humorous, this is not sarcasm, or at least not as I understand the meaning of sarcasm.* I feel no contempt for people who're upset about the changes, and I'm not trying to put them down. Just trying to remind everyone that Disney changes, and those changes are rarely welcomed by all, yet the parks are still as fun for most people as they ever were and are likely to continue being so. :goodvibes

*While I was not trying to be sarcastic, I am frequently pedantic...

And to be honest, I think the Dis will figure out this new system and how to make the best use of it and DISers will continue to have an advantage over people who just show up and follow Disney's lead. Planners and researchers are always going to have an edge. ;)

Thanks to those who appreciated the humor and said so. :)

Good post! Very well said.

I doubt Disney will see 50 year olds as seniors. Just like you said and from many of our own experiences Disney even views 10 year olds as adults and make more money that way. Disney would probably use the higher end of the age bracket and probably use 70+ as senior status because people many people are in their 50's. They won't make as much money if nearly everyone was getting a discount. I wouldn't put it past them to not recognize the current retirement age as the age to stop charging as much for park entrance if they were inclined to do so.

Why were they forcing us to ride Dumbo and Peter Pan. Bleh. A grown man riding Dumbo. I like the new tickets because I don't feel like i have to ride those kiddie rides.

C'mon -- unleash your Disney side a little! ;)

I have to say this one went way over my head. I just thought maybe you haven't been to Disney since it opened. :rotfl2: But the responses helped me put it together.

I appreciate a bit of humor. This is a Disney forum, not a support group for cancer victims.

I have noticed that the most ardent FP+ supporters with the least sense of humor seem to be concentrated in the Wisconsin area. Not sure if that has anything to do with cheese and rodents or what, just an observation. Maybe it's just so cold up there right now it isn't funny.

1) I fully understand your feelings.
2) But, you fail to see-visualize-appreciate the benefits.
. . . kids can ride all day without your supervision
. . . grandma can roam all day with the grandkids
3) In both cases,
. . . you can lose the kids
. . . you can lose grandma
. . . you can leave them and they wouldn't know
. . . you can run away, since they don't know your hotel without any hard room keys
4) This is even better than Child-Swap when you want to swap the kids (or grandma) for new ones.

:cool1:

:rotfl:

I sarcastically agree with your sarcastic suggestions regarding sarcasm.

Laketravis, go easy on the folks from Wisconsin. They got the Dell's, which I have got to find time to take my kids to...

Bravo! I like when the Disboards makes me laugh. Not happening enough lately :(

I got the joke immediately, but I actually agree with the premise . . . I would love for Disney to be free (or very cheap) to enter (so people could eat and shop) and then pay by the ride.

It really wasn't sarcasm so much as that I remember when they switched out from the ticket system so with the FP+ kerfuffle I feel like I've been reliving the past. And I hoped it'd give someone a chuckle. :)

The other thing I keep thinking about is Richard Schickel's The Disney Version. I bet there are a lot of people here who haven't read that but who would still totally relate to his rage. ;) And he wrote that in the sixties -- the more things change...
I thought it was cute. Then again, I admittedly like satire and sarcasm. The few infractions I've gotten will tell you that,lol.:rotfl2:

We have way more in common than currently thought. I could have written what you just did and it be truthful. ;)

And no, I am not using

in this case.
