Disney has lost another family - do they care?

For some families it is about the rides though :confused3
I get that some people love Disney so much that they are just happy being there, that is how I feel about the beach. I could be happy sitting in a chair with my feet in the sand all day every day. WDW is not that for some, I wouldn't be happy there standing in line playing Ispy or people watching.

I really think you just can't see how this change effects some people and you are lucky to be one of the ones it won't effect, but why the need to put down those that do feel it would :confused3

I agree with you on most points, as that is how your family tours. I do not feel I'm putting anyone down. I just don't think taking away fastpasses is going to make or break vacation for us. I also am discouraged by people claiming to never go again instead of giving a new system a chance to work out it's kinks. Sure - don't go this year, or next, but eventually this will work itself out. OR find a new way to tour. If you love it - at least enough to join a message board about it - then there has to be a way to work with the system.

The difference is joining a message board doesn't really cost money. Trying out the new system does. Now if Disney was only charging half the price to test others might be on board. I realize they don't need to b/c folks are willing to pay full/slightly discounted prices. I did try the system in Dec. Work was doing force layoffs and I knew it would be my only opportunity to see the world at Christmas time. I totally understand folks cancelling or postponing trips right now. It would be different if Disney was upfront and communicated changes but they don't. $5,000 is a lot of money to be a tester if you're fairly certain the new rules don't work for you.

This is a really good point. It is a lot of money to be a tester! I feel really bad for those that have went recently and experienced so many disappointments. I would feel let down too. I can see why they want to voice their frustrations. I'm not good at wasting money, so for now, I am not chancing it. I would hope to be one that had a good experience, but it is not a guarantee, so I am waiting it out.

I am totally good at wasting money. =) Just trying to figure out now how much I have to waste. I want to bring my sis and her family....3 adults 3 kids. Staying off site would make soooo much more sense for us but I don't wanna get stuck with cruddy FPs. I want to take them soon so it is somewhat still magical for them. My sweet nephew told me Friday that even though he knows it's a man inside a costume he still wants to give Pooh bear a hug. My heart kinda sunk a little but I know they will still love to go. Just gotta see if I need to pony up even more money to stay onsite. I really don't wanna.

I rarely post however I am lying in my bed here at Hilton (never before at 8pm) and I am sad to say this is it! My daughter is 4 and this is her fourth and last trip with me. It's been fun until now - can't stand having to plan around fast pass+ system. Don't waste money on park hopper anymore as by the time you get to another park, lines are far too lengthy and you can't get fast passes. Spontaneity is gone. I don't spend this kind of money to work so hard planning my day's route and strategy.

If you had gone to WDW in 1998, there would have been no Fastpass at all. Back in '98 and before, we would just plan our days better. Why don't you just pretend there is no Fastpass at all and just get a good Touring Plan? If you want to boycott the parks because they do not have the added convenience of Fastpass, then go ahead. Fewer people on the standby lines. :thumbsup2

Okay, it's official - Disney wants you to think that they care about your concerns, but they don't want you talking to other people about them. They shut down comments on their FB page and will soon buy all Disney related internet forums (like the Dis) and limit all discussion to puppy dogs and kittens.

You love Disney. You love FP+.

Because you still have to deal with the people in fp lines? There's no way to pretend there's no fp.

We enjoy the parks, walking the parks, going on rides, the dining, the pools, the overall ambience. Riding space mountain 50 times in a row is not on our agenda. I do value the time spent waiting with my family playing games like "I Spy" and talking about what we've done and what we plan to do for the day. We enjoy people watching as well.

Do I love waiting in lines? No. But it is not going to stop me from taking my family to WDW for vacation. There are other rides and for us it is not all about rides.

I see that your oldest is only 3! Of course you don't feel the need to take your family on Space Mountain!
Picture this scenario though. Your little is now 6 and you are spending the day at Epcot. You don't want to (or can't) pull him from school so now you can only go at busy times. 6 is the PERFECT age for Test Track and Soarin. You can't use the single rider line (like my family can) because you have to be 7. If you are savvy, you will be able to ride each ride one time by getting there at rope drop to ride one and utilize FP+ for the other. However, if your 6 year old is like every other 6 year old on the planet, he will have a favorite that he will want to ride again. But, since it is peak time, the lines will be over an hour. Do you wait or tell him he is out of luck?
This is what is happening over and over again and it makes me so sad for these families. :worried:My "baby" is 11 and is old enough to understand that with the new system she won't be able to ride all her favorites like she used to. She also ridden them all before. But what about all those in the 5-9 range? Or those who've never been? My niece is 3 and I've no doubt that I could make her happy with a game of I Spy; won't cut it with the kids old enough to know there's better things out there, though. They're the ones I feel for.
Hopefully they straighten out this mess before your DS or my niece are old enough to even know it was created. :goodvibes
