Has anyone used the Disney Grocery delivery service? Just wondering how much they charge and if they are pretty good.

Are the outside delivery services better? Cost less?

We have used WeGoShop for the last several years. Marge is great. I believe she is less expensive than some of the others.

She does not have set prices for the items. She brings you the actual receipts from the store/stores that she shops. You pay the receipt price plus a very small deliver fee. She also offers 1/2 off on delivery fee if you run out of things and need to contact her to bring additional items while there.

I am in the process of using We Go Shop for the first time. Fee is $17-$22, depending upon $$$ spent, and an added 3% if a credit card is used. So far, so good - the franchise owner, Marge, seems very kind and dependable. I like the fact that they go to regular grocery stores like Publix, Super Walmart, etc., rather than ordering prepriced items, which might be inflated.

We leave June 1, so I can let you know the result, if you'd like.

Only 11 more days....:cloud9:

I haven't used the Disney service.

We used Wegoshop on our last trip. Loved it. They delivered exactly what we ordered (even called us twice to make sure they had specific items right). We had a very large order too (16 people in our party-with an additional 5 from time to time)......

They gave us the receipts from the grocery stores they went and their rate was simple math on top of what they spent + tip.

I definitely recommend Wegoshop.

When we rented transportation from Happy Limo from the airport to Beach club they offer a shopping stop. They will pull into a mall with a publix or such and you can go shopping for food and load it into the van. ( we had 10 people at the time). They were great. The driver helped loading the van and unloading at the Beach club. We gave all the food to the valet and they delivered it with the luggage. Just took the ref stuff with us.

After looking at the DVC grocery price list, we decided to use gardengrocer.com. The prices were real good and the service fee was reasonable. The food was waiting there at bell services when we arrived with all the cold stuff in the fridge.

It saved us a bundle over DVC prices and even more so when compared to eating out. Will use them again for sure.

I decided to use Garden Grocer (first time) for our upcoming trip. I thought they were a better choice simply b/c I wanted a case of water to take into the parks. You can buy single water bottles from Disney, so the prices was much higher.

We just used We Go Shop for our visit the first week of May. When we landed in Orlando, the shopper called to tell me she was at Publix and couldn't find the brand of frozen waffles we requested and if it would be OK to go with a different brand. By the time we arrived at BCV, she was there waiting for us with our groceries loaded onto a bell hop's cart. She gave us the receipt which was the price we paid plus delivery and tip.

I was say they are very dependable...

(note: it didn't appear that they took advantage of any shopper club card discounts)

For those of you that use the grocery delivery services, are you flying to Disney? We drive from Houston and usually bring our groceries except for milk, which we buy at the resort. I'm sure it would be nice to save the space in the car.... :)

We do fly and we use ME to and from the airport. That is why we use the grocery service. We would probably do the shopping ourselves if we drove. There is a WalMart not far from property that you could actually purchase your groceries after you get there instead of having to use the space in the car on the way there.

None of these online order places appear to offer wine or beer for delivery. One of the things we always pick up with a grocery stop is a bottle of wine or 6-pack of beer - just to be able to have nice drink on the balcony at night without paying Disney prices. What do you guys do about that?

(We currently have a towncar scheduled - which is what we've always done - but I'm thinking about saving some $ and finally trying DME for our first trip as DVC members in September - thus requiring grocery delivery.)

We put the beer and wine that we want on our grocery list for WeGoShop and Marge always delivers it to us.

Marge will deliver beer and wine, but you have to be there for the delivery so she can "check i.d., if necessary";). If there is no alcohol involved and the order is prepaid, Marge will leave it with bell services (I think the arrangement needs to be set up ahead of time, but I am not sure).

Usually we drive and do our own shopping. However, we're flying for our next trip (leaving in 7 days!) So, we're trying out WEGOSHOP . . . just sent Marge my LONG list today (6 people for 11 nights . . . it seems like a lot of food!) I'm hoping we'll like the delivery service. Her prices seemed very reasonable.

I have been meaning to post this since we returned from our trip on Saturday. Marge and Amy (her assistant) were terrific! This is the first time we have used a delivery service, we always use DME and purchased the Dining Plan and it did not make sense for us to take a limo with a grocery stop just for the few items that we need to get us through the week (breakfast items, beer and wine).

Marge was extremley helpful even with the 2nd delivery at 1/2 price (only beer and water.) They called to verify that they were getting us the right item and passed on any savings from the grocery store (buy-one-get-one-free Entenmans Doughnuts). One, I don't think we will use the DDP again, and 2 we will always call Marge for our staples. Lots of savings involved!!!

Really they were very easy to work with and extremely helpful!!

What do you tip, and are the prices comparable with what you would have paid at home? I am extremely frugal and use coupons, will they go to SuperWalmart? I looked online at either Netgrocer or Gardengrocer and I thought the prices were double that of Wal-mart

Thanks

Orlando is a bit more expensive than Houston as far as grocery goes. I wouldn't expect that any shopping service is going to get the best deals that a coupon cutter gets (we are coupon people). However, after looking at our receipt, I expect that we paid 10-15% more than we would in Houston.

Wegoshop will go to whatever store you ask them to go to.

We tipped 18% (er closer to 20% actually-darn calculator with no 7 button- lol). This may be on the high side, but I come from a long line of friendly tippers. :thumbsup2

For us, it is still a value because by using a grocery service we don't need a rental car (we take Magic Express both ways).

Hope this helps.
