Anyone have any suggestion about must not miss golf courses to hit in Orlando or Kissimmee. Any suggestions appreciated. We are there for two weeks.

What weeks are you there? We play lots of golf in the disney area. We are mediocre golfers who are not afraid to try new courses and have tried several disney courses and others outside of disney. Most vacation golfers are there for the fun and are not necessarily great golfers. The Marriot Grande Vista resort has a great 9 hole Nick Faldo course, but is more expensive than most disney courses if you have an annual pass or are a DVC member.

We are there Feb 16 to March 4.
Thought of checking out Falcons Fire, we golfed Magnolia last year and loved it.
We play for fun and love to check out new courses.

The Disney courses are nice. I played 3 of them in August 2005 while there for a conference and found that the twilight rates were between $25-$40 to play with a cart vs $100+ in the mornings. You might want to consider playing twilight if you want to play the more expensive courses and finances are a factor.

I've played Falcon's Fire and that was also a nice course.

I don't know about non-Disney courses but I found the Eagle Pines/Osprey Ridge courses a little better than the others on site. The twilight rates are great to save money although it may get a little dark towards the end of your round. The last time I golfed there a couple years ago they were also offering free club rentals for resort guests.

As a keen golfer from the UK, I'd have no hesitation in recommending the Disney courses - particularly LBV and Eagle Pines. Outside of the World, the best course we've found so far is Diamondback. It's a bit of a drive but the course is absolutely beautiful (a waterfall on the back three!), a hell of a challenge and cheap as chips (a UK phrase, sorry!). Because it's a bit of a trek from WDW the prices are much more favourable and the deals they tend to offer are superb.

We normally play Highlands Reserve as our warm up round - it's relatively open and straight forward, but the people are friendly, the deals are good and it's gives everyone a chance to get their game in shape before tougher tests.

Other fun courses we've played are Southern Dunes (which seems to have more sand than the West Coast of Florida!) and MetroWest, which is another solid Floridian course.

I haven't played Falcon's Fire but I have heard it's a little overpriced for the quality of the course. Likewise Champions Gate. Orange National has two courses and gets great reviews but when we turned up to have a look and book a tee time the staff were pretty snooty with us so we didn't go back.

But please do try to get down to Diamondback, it's a hidden gem of a course.

Enjoy your golf, you lucky things!

Benn
