Disney gift cards - lost/stolen questions

Hi,

I just bought a lot at one time.

Q: I scratch off the PIN area right now because I need that information if they are ever lost/stolen. Correct?

I also need to keep all the receipts just in case this ever happened as well. Yes? Is this everything I need to know for the process if need be?

I don't think you need to scratch off the PIN area. If you have your receipt, the card can be reissued; I recently had to go through this when my DH lost some stuff. Unfortunately, I could only find receipts for $68+ worth of what we lost- which was still better than 0$.
I just sent a copy of the receipt to the gift card website, and then they contacted me about reissuing. It was really easy on my part, and they sent me replacement cards super fast. We lost our stuff somewhere between MCO and home on our way home, so it wasn't a vacation ruiner.

Okay, no scratching. Thank you both. So the first use CM scratches the PIN. Curious. Or I have to if I use it online?
