You have to pay with a TargetRedCard to get 5% off.

You have to pay with your Target card, and just know that the Disney gift cards come in smaller increments. The largest denomination I've seen is $50. If you owe $1000.00, that's 20 $50 gift cards you'll need. They may or may not have that many on the shelf at any one time. I paid for my cruise in 2012 with the Target gift cards and it was the biggest pain in the neck and TOTALLY not worth the aggravation of finding the cards and then inputting them one by one by one by one…you get the idea. Such a tedious task. I ended up with a shoebox full of redeemed gift cards that I held onto just in case there were any issues. I just booked another cruise for 2016 and will just pay for it with my Disney rewards visa. All those points I earn can help pay for some excursions, etc. Good luck.

I have been buying the Dis GC at Target using my Redcard. I immediately walk over to guest services and make a Redcard payment. For me, it's totally worth it because my cruise cost is 5k+ and I normally shop at Target regardless. Maybe I'm lucky because my Target is well stocked up and during the weeks I'm too busy to go there I just order the cards online.

Totally worth it for us, for just a little effort as much as reading the numbers off to my TA at most 30 minutes totall to save a few hundred bucks well worth it.... Also from every target I've ever bought from disney gift cards are well stocked with full racks at like every other row at checkout and then full stacks at the gift card center.... Easiest way to save on a disney cruise

I add the Disney gift cards to my Disney Vacation account and it acts like 1 big gift card. Works better than reading off a ton of gift cards over the phone plus I get $20 Disney gift card for every 1k I spend from the DVA :)

I paid my cruise in full using my Disney Visa already. I was hoping to get the extra shipboard credit but unfortunately it can't be combined with the FL resident rate. But that's another story.

Anyway, what else can be paid for with Disney gift cards? Can I use them for tips, Palo, or shore excursions booked through Disney? Those are the only remaining expenses I can think of right now. Thanks!

Yes, you can! Just bring your gift cards to guest services on the ship and they will apply them to your onboard account.

You can also use the giftcards in the gift shops, which is nice if you want a child to pickout and spend 'their own money' without giving them charging rights to your room.

We normally save $400-$500 per vacation paying with the gift cards. I also watch around Cristmas Target sometimes offers $10 off $50 or $10 off $75 and we save even more.

Yup, but you still might need to make multiple trips to get enough GC's for a cruise. The credit limit on our Target RedCards is around $2500. We've tried to get Target to up the limit, but they won't/can't manaully increase it. They say there's some kind of computer algorithm that calculates who is eligble for more credit and no human prodding can make it happen. :confused3

Quick question in regards to this just so I'm clear on it~

I booked through TA, can I still use the gift cards to pay?

so can you get the redcard if you're Canadian? We're heading to the states for a few days around black Friday and would like to get some for our Disney Vacation in January!

Just a tip! I've had clients take pictures with their phone and send! Saves time reading the numbers off and an agent accidentally writing them down wrong! :)

Depends on the TA's payment structure with Disney. If your agent pays directly to Disney then yes you can use gift cards. If your TA agency pays Disney with an agency check then no, you can't.

Ex. you pay TA $500 toward your trip. TA then holds that money (deposits) and then writes Disney a check from their company account to pay Disney any client payments. Some agencies do business this way. The agency won't accept Disney GC as payment.

Our agency makes payments directly to Disney so no agency check payment. I give them my cc number and then call Disney and give them the info.

Just check with your TA and see how they handle payments to Disney. There have been reports of some agencies not paying the cruise lines in a timely manner if they send agency checks which can affect your ability to make shore excursions or Palo reservations, etc.
