Disney gift Cards and Tips

Question for y'all. Can I use a Disney gift card to pay tips for meals and such?

For my trip in October, we used gift cards for all our meals (well the ones where we could). We would add the tip to the bill and hand over the appropriate number of gift cards to cover the total. I had a bunch of $50 GCs purchased at Target.

On our last trip in October we had an issue paying for our meal and tip with a gift card at Beaches and Cream. We had two partial cards that we weren't sure sure how much was one each. The two cards covered the meal but no tip. We wanted to use another full gift card to leave a tip. I don't know why, but no one could figure out how to do this. our lovely server Maria, kept saying it was fine you don't have to leave a tip but there was NO WAY I wasn't tipping. We even got the manager involved but she still couldn't figure it out we ended up canceling our paying with gift cards and out the meal on our MBs.

That was the first time we had attempted to pay for meal and tip that way. We brought a bunch of cards but we paid for our meals with the MB then went to the front desk a couple of times and out the GCs on our room charges. We would've done the same thing this time but we left for home after our meal.

Instead of trying to use the two partial cards, I wonder if you could have just used a full card or a full card and a partial card, if the one wasn't enough? Could it have been that they couldn't use three cards at one time? I don't know, just a thought.
