Ok, well, the time has come for me to book our August trip and I've been saving up disney gift cards for a while to pay for our vacation with.
We have two different possibilities as far as what we will book.
Scenario 1: If free dining is offered (which isn't looking good for our dates, but I'm still hoping), we will book a package (room at POR and 10 day tickets).
Scenario 2: If free dining is NOT offered, we will book room only at POR with an AAA discount and order tickets from undercovertourist.com.
I would like to secure a room with AAA discount in the next couple of days because I'm getting nervous about not having anything booked. So, if I use a gift card to put a deposit on a room, what happens if I need to cancel the room only ressie and change to a package if they announce free dining? Does my credit just switch over? Or is it better to put the deposit on my credit card instead of a gift card?
Also, I thought I read that you could make payments using gift cards online? Is this only if you book online or can I book over the phone and still make payments online? Has anyone done this, or must it be done over the phone? I hate to bother someone to credit my account for each $25 gift card I have! Can you only make online payments with a package? Or can I make payments with a room only ressie also?
I know these are a lot of questions but I don't want to make any costly mistakes when I book this. DH will shoot me since I talked him into buying $1200 worth of gift cards when they disney.com was still giving the percent back for them.
So, any advice or info about your experience using them would be very helpful and much appreciated! I have butterflies in my stomach just thinking about booking this trip, lol!
