So I just got off the phone with PayPal... He told me that I shouldn't be buying a gift card with a gift card... But anyway I should wait the 24 to 48 hours and try again. Good grief!

I was told that before when I bought a BB through PPDG and the order went through but I didn't get the email with the BB gift card. It took 48 hours for it to finally come through. I think many of us here have had problems buying from PPDG with GC and I certainly have scaled way back on my churning.

Yes. I think I am done. Too bad because I was just starting to get the hang of it. I had just started in March.I just want to get rid of my eBay GC. As a last resort I guess I can sell them to Raise or Giftcardzen. I don't want to go the GS route because I am too afraid I will be stuck. I thought I was taking it slow with just $50. I will just keep trying and wait a day or two if needed. I don't need the money for the trip but it would be nice to be done.

I guess I don't see how GS is losing money. You buy the GS gift cards at full price from Ebay, then go to GS to buy a $100 Ebay card with a $100 GS card, same as if you paid with $100 bill. The only one really losing $ is Ebay with their promos. Target, yes, with the 5% off but that doesn't apply to GS.

In my opinion, they would only be losing money when offering the discounted gift cards we've seen lately. Even then, the commission they get from selling 3rd party cards probably offsets the discount they offered on their own cards. Given that same scenario, I think its reasonable to assume that they actually profit when us churners use GS gift cards we paid full value for. But I could be wrong.

I agree with these totally, exactly what i was going to say! I guess maybe I'm not as smart as others, but makes no sense that GS is losing money on sales. I have bought all my GS gcs at full price, no discount. I go in and buy a gc, a product they offer for sale, at full Price, could have been anything they sell. It's not like we get a 5% discount along the way as we could with the Target cards. So I paid full price, and didnt do any of the recent discounted gc sales for GS like the one yesterday. And, even those are limited to how many you can do per account so its not unlimited, so they are protected from overly large sales there. Most businesses offer sales and expect people to take advantage of them.

So they got about $3000 from me over the last maybe 6 weeks during promos than they ever would have otherwise. Never would have made any purchase there not doing this, so don't see how they possibly lose money on me and other purchasers like myself. Even if they lost 10% on those as suggested as possible, they then still got the 90% from me and others they probably wouldn't have gotten. And, now that I've been in there, there is a possibility of buying something else there in the future, I'm sure others could say that as well. Them losing money doesn't make any sense to me.

Same thing with Gamestop. Although you purchase it dollar for dollar, Gamestop takes a cut on it because both the seller and ebay pocket a bit of it to stay in business.

Most of us aren't cashing out on Gamestop, but at Best Buy (probably their #1 competitor) to convert to Disney etc. Gamestop isn't getting that 90% in profit you're making, rather the retailer you choose to cash out on is.

GameStop may be making money, losing money, or be breaking even. It all depends on what discount they offer GS resellers vs what discount they get from the companies whose gift cards they sell.

When you buy a $100 GS card from a reseller on ebay, GameStop does NOT get $100. They might get $90 or even only $85. Conversely, when you buy an ebay card at GameStop, it doesn't cost them $100. They get a discount on those as well. If they didn't get or receive a discount on gift cards, there would be absolutely 0 incentive to sell them.

Now, none of this takes into account the overhead GS takes on with the process. They also have to invest in inventory, floor space, and labor. So if they "break even", they're losing money, and even if they're coming out slightly ahead in terms of raw numbers, they may be losing some money as well.

I just started in February with ebay and did a fair share with Target to ebay and vice versa. I would wait a few days or a week and try again with PPDG. I had cold feet for a couple of weeks after waiting so long for mine. But, I have done it twice since buying BB and GS but I am only buying small amounts and not as often as I had been and they have gone through fine.

I'm all cashed out in Disney but still have a few hundred in churnable funds. Can I buy a physical BB or GS gc from ebay and just swipe at the checkout myself? I don't want to be dealing with handing cashiers e gift cards when it seems about a 50% failure rate is being reported here.

BB does not sell physical GC through an authorized retailer and Gamestop is YMMV.

PSA: The Visa pre-paid gift cards work in the Gamestop POS systems to purchase with gift cards, but are highly highly YMMV. Cards have a $6 activation fee, but works anywhere that accepts Visa.

My question to you all is when doing this churn and when there's no OOP cost to you, is there anything you do to maximize your return other than just a direct gift card to gift card churn? GameStop has a rewards program that you can earn points for things like free games. The downside is that it makes you trackable and they can tell how much and how often you've been buying gift cards. Personally, I feel the upside isn't worth the downside.

While I wait for a new way to churn cards on ebay, I have been shopping at Target, and taking advantage of deals where they give out free $5 and $10 Target gift cards. When I get a bunch, I combine them, and then they can be used to buy ebay and Disney cards.

I'm sorry, I guess I'm just not totally getting it, not trying to argue. First of all, in their selling of products, don't they allow for the various fees and cuts others take, etc, in what they sell items for? And, Even tho I'm not cashing out, anywhere yet, but at this point it'll probably be BB, but in the mean time I am spending at GS, bringing my dollars in their store, as another poster said the sales clerk told her about buying gc's at his store. how do they not get enough of that $3000 I spent there to make it worth it for them? I mean, why sell any if all they will do is continue to lose money, that doesn't make sense to me. Even with losing a cut or fees, don't they make more than they would have if they didn't sell at all?

My BB does not have a scanner for guests to use but I haven't had a problem with them scanning my egc's on my phone. My GS does have a scanner for guests and that has worked great. I've been buying physical GS cards from GCM mall lately.

Not sure if this is exactly what you're asking but I have been taking my eBay cards and buying some GS physical cards at GCM, always first linking thru my Ebates, and only when they have an ebucks promo. I have done some BB thru PPDG, tho that is more limited because of the issues buying thru PPDG, and still go thru Ebates link and only during an ebucks promo. I don't do rewards points at GS to keep things a little quieter/less traceable on the amounts, and can't get rewards thru BB anyway when paying with gc's.

Every time they pass the potato (you churning your gift cards to another retailer) they pay someone either it be eBay/giftcardmall/gamestop. The retailer that ends up with the potato at the end is essentially the winner because that retailer gets to keep those funds (you cashing out/end game) and all the other retailers are SOL as they paid whatever percentage to whomever they had to (the fees).

If I go into Gamestop and purchase an eBay GB with a $100 bill, how is that any different than paying for that same GC with a GS GC? Both forms of payment have the same value. If the store wasn't making any money on that transaction, they wouldn't be selling the 3rd party cards.
