Disney Gift Card Deals

Most of the banning concerns have been over using Target gift cards to buy eBay or Disney gift cards in large quantities. This seems to be a different case than the other bans we have heard about.

But the reselling allegation is the same. And if one is using Target gift cards for the purchase, then what "account" is getting locked?

Most people are using their Target Red card account to get an extra 5% discount when paying with Target gift cards. Those who have reported being banned said they were no longer allowed to make any purchases online with their Target account or their Red card, but were still being allowed to use their Red card in physical Target stores.

I've read sooooo many pages and I'm ready to start churning. I already have eBay gc, when I buy target gift cards how do I check out using the gc? I know I need to go through PayPal to get ebucks, but I don't want to screw this part up and pay using my bank account. I have unlinked eBay and PayPal accounts.

Exactly. It wouldn't have bothered me if they had said "hey we noticed these charges and want to remind you about this policy so if you are reselling here's your warning". But it was very matter of fact, as if there couldn't be any doubt that I was reselling and if it didn't stop they would cut the credit. I was worried about how it would get reported on my credit report, so I called. Honestly, there was no reference as to what I had bought, so I question whether they even realized that it was gift cards. Just a lot of maxed out credit limits that I would immediately payoff off that week before maxing it out again. It really showed the lack of sophistication with their systems. No wonder they were hacked.

I think this may be the problem. Credit cards do not like when you charge your credit limit multiple times over. I've heard of many credit cards shut down when people do this. I think the credit card companies see this as abusing your credit limit. They may have threatened under the reseller provision, but I would bet this was a HUGE factor.

I do this with my Disney Visa every month, multiple times, to get as many rewards as possible. Hopefully They don't start giving me grief about it! I never even considered they would care.

I know from reading some manufactured spending forums that this kind of behavior has gotten some people's credit cards cancelled. Charging up to the limit and paying it off several times a month. This is especially true if the amount you are charging is really out of line with your stated income level. So if you make $5,000 each month, but are regularly charging $10,000 a month, this raises a red flag.

I don't think what you encountered from Target is quite the same as the bans that others have gotten. But definitely useful information for people to have.

I wasn't the original poster, I was replying to someone who suggested this might have been an issue. My income is in line with my spending so hopefully I will not have a problem. I should probably call & request an increase in my credit limit :)

So today I opened my mailbox to find only $100 in Disney gift cards from Target where it should have been $150. The packing slip said 3 but there were only 2 in the envelope. I called Target's guest services wondering if they would look at all of the cards I've ordered in the last 2 months and say something. Nothing! The lady looked at the order, apologized, and said she couldn't send me a replacement Disney card but would send me via email a Target gift card for the amount. Sounds good.

The funny thing is that they included tax on it so the GC I received was for $49.98. I wasn't going to make a big deal about it because they didn't factor in the 5% discount.

All in all I seem to have come out ahead. I was wondering if something like this would happen where I wouldn't get all of the cards I ordered and am happy that Target handled it with class. They never once tried to get out of it or question anything.

Yay Minniekins, you cracked the code:worship: Success, on one $100 ebay GC using eBucks, great way to start the day. Thanks!
Haha! Well that crack was sealed right back up after that one card!

@linzjane88 "Yep, it worked when I thew in the Target gc. I might try one more target then a bigger order of ppdg. I think I locked the stupid thing out like 7 times yesterday so I was giving poor DH a break,ha ha .
Really I was trying to crack the code and be able to report back and save the day with some magical fix. :smooth: "

Well, that would be great if you'd really crack the code and bring back some magical fix! That would indeed save the day for some of us, lol!

I have loved erewards for a few years now, but I don't get as many surveys anymore ( i jst hit 2000 swa points rewards again) but it is taking longer than in the past,I used to get so many I'd space out the rewards (one each month) it feels like 2000 free flight points -I get too excited....
I rarely get surveys from e rewards via my email account anymore; but I go directly to their website almost every day and take surveys. Since I started doing this my e rewards earnings have gone up significantly.
I didn't realize that you could make SWA rewards points, that would be awesome! I've been invited to do the e-rewards surveys but usually forget to go do anything with the email. Can you really make some good reward points that help make a difference in your amount of rewards points you have to use? And any idea how much time you spend to get enough points to make a difference? This would be a good way to help save for trips by using points for the flying which is the best way to fly!

I've been having similar issues. I had to call into paypal three times. It's still not resolved. The third guy said it's because paypal is being over cautious. Now, I need to follow-up for a 4th time today.
So tonight I called and spoke to someone and I don't know quite what the deal was, but she fixed it so I was able to buy another 4 $100 GS cards(so a total of my $500 ebucks!) while she was on the line and it went thru. Not sure what she did, said she just fixed a couple things, but there were no limits or restrictions or anything that she saw(other than last night I had to reset the password). But she kept asking me all sorts of weird stuff to verify it was me, something about public info she was checking. Like what year my ford card was when I had it(giving me three choices of years), or three addresses if I had lived at any or all of them, then three others that I hadn't but one was my ex's address. I thought that was all very strange. But, it worked for that purchase. My DD25's account is behaving the same way, but I tried again to use her ebucks buying the PPDG GS cards, first using her paypal, and then mine, but it didn't work that time. So I will have to call on hers tomorrow, and maybe on mine again, too. But, at least I got my ebucks out and can go convert tomorrow!

When you click proceed to check out, it will lead to a pop up of the paypal page and you can sign it. Then you can choose which way you wanna pay, your choices will be at the top, such as your default payment options that are already set like your bank account or credit card. Then lower on the page it ask for codes or coupons, you just put your ebay gc number in there and click apply. Sometimes mine will act like it won't work but usually I put it in again and all is good. Then if you have any balance left over not covered by gift cards, you just choose one of your other payment options such as your bank account or cc to finish paying.

When you get to the checkout screen, there will be a box near the bottom that will allow you to enter the gift card code.

Sort of off topic, maybe...

Bought a Groupon gift card yesterday at Kroger for the 4x fuel points to use through my Swagbucks shopping portal for the 7x sb on a Great Wolf Lodge deal for this summer and...that Groupon card was THE WORST card I've ever seen regarding the strip you peel off to reveal the PIN number. That number was so hard to read. I know some of the Target ones are difficult, but this was awful. I ended up calling their customer service to figure it out. Finally got it, but what a hassle! Don't think I'll bother with Groupon gift cards anymore.

On the bright side, almost $30 extra through Swagbucks on that transaction to add to my churning pot for Disney once they finally credit. Cha-Ching! Lol

After my limited success ordering GameStop gc from PPDG with my ebay bucks (managed 2 orders of $100 card each before it locked my paypal account on the 3rd attempt; it was unlocked easily within 5 minutes just confirming some stuff and resetting my password but I spent about 30 minutes chasing my tail with the text verification stuff before it locked), I tried this morning with 1 order of 3 $100 cards. My paypal/ebay link was still wonky, but after 1 text verification, another paypal login and a call verification, I was able to place the order, and had my cards in less than 15 minutes (although oddly 1 card arrive almost 5 minutes before the other 2). I went through iConsumer, so for turning my $500 ebay bucks I have $10 in ebay bucks, $6.50 (and some iConsumer stock) coming from iConsumer, and I should get 10000 gamestop points when I turn my GS gc back into ebay when I run into the mall on the way to the gym after church :)

ETA: I no longer buy ebay gc through target (since I have so much Disney to buy from there), so it is nice to still get 4% back. I also don't use any cashback sites when buying gc from target. Just not worth the risk, to me, for the small reward.

There's a thread for it! :) I've been successful in earning about 3000 points since the first of the year.

I was finally able to get a PPDG Ebay GC using ebucks after trying for two days. I checked my email and they sent me a Sephora gift card instead of an eBay GC. I double checked my order, and sure enough, I ordered an Ebay GC. I contacted the "seller" PPDG in a contact form.

Besides that, is there any other resolution to this or other ways I can try to get the order corrected?

Slightly OT: I tried to make another purchase this morning to see if the Sephora GC number would work on eBay and it didn't, naturally. BUT, the checkout screen was completely different than it had been the last few days. PayPal/Ebay may have been doing some serious updates which, at least, to me, might be the reason so many people were having trouble with orders.

Thanks for the info. I did a quick check on Google and the reviews were not very good and while I trust the PP's that have commented positively I kind of figured that it might have recently evolved into something less beneficial. My employer has a moratorium on air travel and I am close to another free flight this might give me just enough to cash in.

A couple of people have mentioned that they always put a little bit on their Redcard/Debit card when purchasing a giftcard, and after I had an order canceled this morning that was paid for only with gift cards, I decided to test the theory, and it worked! Small amount ($13) on my debit card for a few items to be picked up in store, and the order appears to be going through!

Ugh. I so wish GCM would restock their 100 and 150 Target cards. I have a trip next month I have to start buying Disney for! ! Seriously, isn't 11 days a looooooong time to be out of stock?
