Disney Gift Card Deals

I know I opened a DVA a few years back, but when I try to login it says I don't have one. Is it that you just can't request the GCs for 120 days or that you also don't get credits for any purchases for 120 days? I'm thinking about reopening and using it for our expenses this trip and then getting the GCs for next trip.

I believe you get the credit, but you can't request the card pre- 120 days. I like my DVA and have been lucky (knock on wood) - no problems for me. I like having a place to consolidate my gift cards + the bonus gift cards are nice.

Make sure you read the T&C's . . . you can't pay for everything with a DVA. I've only paid for cruises (plus loading my onboard account) and park tickets. Not sure if you can do room only at WDW or not??

You need to have the account open for 120 days. You can add money any time before or after 120 days but you won't get credit towards the $20 per $1,000 unless you used the account after the 120 days. If it says you don't have an account I would call before opening a new one just to be sure you don't still have one. I couldn't access mine after Disney merged everything to one password. I had to call to get that straightened out.

Hmmm . . . maybe I'm wrong . . . I thought you just could not request the bonus card before 120 days but you still got credit for the spend . . .

Drats, you're right. From the DVA site . . . "Your Disney Vacation Account must be active for a minimum of 120 days at the time of spending in order to receive this bonus."

Well, that sucks. But hopefully they will be able to reopen mine. If not, I guess I'll open it now so its ready for next trip!

OK, I waited too long and now OTC has upped their tickets to reflect the new prices, so looks like I'm getting my tickets through Disney. This expense alone is over $3k, so I don't want to push it through the Target website. If I take my Red Card to Target (and pay with it of course), will I still get the 5% off Disney cards? Is there a limit per transaction?

Yes you will get the 5% discount. I did it in January buying $2500 so $3000 may work. This was in the store in one transaction

Have you try park savers for tickets? They usually have good discounts. We got 7 day hopper for $370 which we are upgrading to AP. Target. Com has a limit of 3/$100 gc and 4/$50 gc per transaction. I heard from this thread people are being ban so you might. Want to split those transactions through a few days.

I need expert advice. I order $1200 worth of target gc through card pool. I got physical gc so they should be here later this week. I was just going to go to target to combine to make the transaction easier now I am wondering if I should go get eBay gc at the target store then use them to buy target gc through eBay before I order my Disney gc?

So far I have save 6% through card pool, 2% through to top cash back ( I am still waiting)and 2% from my cc. I was just going to take the extra 5% from red card and 2% through ebates since our trip is start April 15.

I believe top cash back only gives you cash back on your first $1,000 in purchases from cardpool (or raise) just in case you get a little less than you expect.

The only "advantage" would be getting a $20 Disney GC for every $1K spent on qualifying purchases when you use your DVA to pay for it. The DVA needs to be open for 120 days before you're eligible for any of those bonuses.

The DVA would be a final step in any churning process because you would need to load it with Disney GCs. IMO, there are too many problems with the DVA. While they seem to eventually get customer issues resolved, it can take multiple calls to do so. It's one step that I have no interest in taking.
VERY helpful! Thanks so much!!

Thanks great to know my total was only $1031 so it shouldn't be off by that much. I was able to get 1 of the $40 gc at groupon.

That's awesome. I only mentioned this because I didn't know there was a $1,000 lifetime limit for raise and cardpool (individually). It's hard to keep track of all this stuff.

I have a 1-night package through Disney at the old ticket prices, which are $300 less than new ticket prices. Park Savers is over $3600 with PH, OTC is $3152 w/o PH and my package is about $100 more than the OTC number with 2 ASMu rooms for 1 night and eight 10-day base tickets. If I run my package cost through my RedCard, then it will be less than any of the discount sites OOP. AFAIK, no one has been banned buying cards in-store with their RedCard (just online). I just wanted make sure there were no in-store limits.

In store at target it depends on the person. I know the store by me capped a purchase of disney gift cards to 2000 per transaction. The manager did say that I could do more than one transaction if I needed to purchase more. I think they are just happy to have the sales so they were okay with multiple transactions. Online does cap you a 4-$50 and 3-$100 per order so you could order some online and then the rest in store if you wanted to get some discount.

Some stores (cashiers/managers) have been known to implement and enforce their own limits, but that's completely store-by-store. I've never had any difficulty (I've bought at least $2000 in-store in one transaction), but I mostly buy my GCs online.

There is no corporate, nation-wide in-store limit (that we've been made aware of).

Is your red card a debit or credit card? I've had trouble in the store with my debit purchasing a large dollar amount but I'd think the credit card probably has looser guidelines. They told me they can't verify funds when you use debit so they limit the dollar amount. However, no one could tell me what that magical $ was when I called to see what the problem was.

Last time I bought it in store there wasn't any limit as long as you had enough credit on your red card, but that was a few years ago. The main problem was the store didn't have that much inventory I had to make 3 different trips to get $1000.

Hey Ellie, I think it is about your comfort level, being that your trip is SO close. If you buy eBay in store at Target, happen to get a good ebay bucks promo this week, your Target cards will take a week to arrive. Then, if you order Disney online at Target, that can take a week as well. That timeframe would make me nervous!

Everyone in this thread is great for not flaming members who have questions about churning. I'm a part of some other forums who will absolutely rip someone apart for asking a question about something specific without searching/reading the thread.

With that said, it's not that hard to take the time to look through the thread. I just started flipping gift cards, and I have learned a lot reading 10-20 pages back. It's not like you'll have to read all 600+ pages of this thread.

Has anyone ever thought about making a pt.2 thread with the how-to on the opening post? It would make it much easier than just repeating the same thing over and over.

Being totally honest here. I would sooooooo use a flame button if I had the option with some of these 'explain every detail to me because I don't feel like researching ' posts. :rolleyes1

I STILL haven't gotten my giftcardmall order from last week! I checked the tracking and it's still in Utah and there was a storm delay note on the details. I'm so impatient :teeth:
