Disney Gift Card Deals

Does anyone know if getgo is definitely classified as a "gas station" with credit card companies? This may sound stupid but I recently used my chase freedom at a local gas station and on my statement it showed up as a deli/market so I didn't get the 5% bonus. The bizarre thing is that they don't have a deli there and it really isn't a market either (just a tiny indoor place to pay for gas if it using a credit card with candy bars and a couple of coolers that sell water/soda). So it made me wonder if getgo would also be coded as a market vs a gas station since they have much larger stores there. I looked online but it isn't specifically listed on chase site. However similar types of stores like sheetz are. Just wouldn't want to buy a bunch of gift cards there and thing I was getting 5% off if it really is just 1%

That's a good question. I know I saw either on FB or in another thread, that GetGo did classify as a gas station for those with Discover, they were getting 5% cash back.

Usually the pumps and the store are coded differently. You have to pay at the pump to get the gas station benefit.

That's the thing-I always pay at the pump using my credit card for convenience. However for some reason this little rinky dink gas station is set up with the credit card company as a deli/mart-not sure why since I can't believe that most of their revenue isn't from gas-oh well it wasn't a big purchase.
I just looked at my Amex statement as I routinely get gas at getgo and those transactions are coded as a gas station with Amex-I assume it would be the same with chase visa/discover but wonder if purchases coded in the store (where you would buy a gift card) would be different as you suggested.

I am almost certain that if you have a Discover card (currently 5% cash back on gas), you can buy gift cards at GetGo and get the 5% since it's a gas station.

So for a $50 gift card you'd get $2.50 cash back, plus .29 in fuel perks which at a max of 30 gal = $8.70, for a total savings of 22.4%! That's awesome!!
Could we do visa/mc to disney at Giant Eagle? Or even giant eagle cards to disney? I think I have paid for gc with gc at giant eagle, but not 100% sure.

I've only ever used a credit/debit card at Giant Eagle, so I'm not sure.

ETA: I'm pretty sure you can't get the fuel perks promotion if you're buying Giant Eagle gift cards.

You are absolutely correct you do not earn fuel perks when buying giant eagle gift cards only third party ones.

It will depend on the credit card company and the GetGo location. The only way to figure it out is by trial and error. Two GetGo's in my area code via Amex as grocery, so I use those to get 6% cash back on my gift card purchases along with using the main GE. Another couple GetGo's code as a gas stations, so I use those to capture my 3% gas station spend (if my 6% grocery spend is exhausted) and obviously avoid it for my "grocery" spend. My advice is try a few small purchases on your own to see how each in your area is coded. I find it extremely useful when churning Visa/MC Gebits and Target/eBay cards during double fuel perk offers.

While this is true in some cases, CMNJ is asking specifically about GetGo, and for the GetGo's I use that code a service stations, I get the same "gas benefit" (3%) on all inside purchases as well (usually always gift cards). I don't pay for gas anymore.

Yes, but better to do visa/mc Gebits to Target at GE and then Target to eBay or Disney.

There is another poster who advocates buying the visa/mc ones and then using those to buy Disney or target to essentially double the promo (but you do take a hit on the activation fee for a mc/visa). I personally have never tried this so I cant speak to doing it personally.
I have used giant eagle gift cards to buy other third party cards (gotten for free as a prize) so it did work previously but you do not get fuel perks when buying a giant eagle gift card so they would not qualify for the 29 cent promo

That's interesting that some are coded as grocery-they ones I usually go to are coded as service station or gas-I looked after I had originally posted my question this am. One of which is a Large getgo that even sells beer. Wonder why some are classified as grocery (unless the majority of business is from that not the gas station)

Correct, but you can purchase retailer gift cards with giant eagle gift cards and earn fuel perks at that point. This was particular relevant last year when they had the $10 coupon print per $100 spent to use on a future grocery order. The visa/mc Gebits to giant eagle gift card churn created an open loop that could be used to generate numerous $10 back coupons. You had two weeks to use each coupon and you could use as many as you wanted in each transaction and could easily slip additional gift cards into the grocery transactions.....you see where I'm going with this.

In my area, the newer GetGo's are coded as grocery, while the older stores are coded as service station. I'm lucky I figured out which was which.

Wow so you think the newer ones aren't coded as gas-that's really interesting to know because I will easily max out my 6% grocery bonus this year so knowing that I will have to see which are coded as grocery vs gas (since those coded as gas would still be 3% back)

Earlier, I used Best Buy reward dollars for Disney gift cards. Does anyone know if Office Depot/ Office Max rewards dollars can be used for gift cards? I have $50 to spend there now and didn't know if that was an option.

Thanks!

YMMV, but in my area my experimentation revealed that to be the case. Sounds like you may need to make a referral to your significant other for an additional 6% cash back card:)

I used the Kroger 4x coupon this morning, and it no longer appears in my account. Must be 1x use.

I can confirm that to be the case. I tested it by going back and buying a small $15 card, and I only received 2x. Boo!

Interesting follow-up on the Kroger fuel points promo. I had to call Kroger just now since I did not receive the 50 points from a survey I completed last night. I asked the customer service rep about the current fuel points promo, and she said the coupon SHOULD BE unlimited use. She gave me a case # and told me to just call back and they will adjust points for any future gift card purchase through Sunday. :-)
