Ok, sort of new to this thread (was reading about a year ago) but have been trying to figure some of this out for weeks. Trying not to read all 1870 pages (read a dozen or so today). I apologize if this has been covered:
So it looks like I should be okay using a Sam's/
Walmart gift card for purchasing Disney GC through Sam's. Does anyone know if that works online?
Moreover, does anyone know where, other than Walmart/Sam's, I can buy those GCs?
So here is what I'm currently trying to see if I can make happen somewhere: I'm trying to get the Disney GCs for the 4.6% discount through Sam's, but I'm trying to figure out if I can find a way to combine that with credit card rewards to increase the discount. Unfortunately,
Amazon does not seem to sell any GCs for any stores that I know of that have the discounted Disney GCs (Sam's, Costco, BJ's) - I have the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa which gives me 5% cash back on Amazon purchases, but that's not helping me. Amazon also didn't have any Disney cards last I looked, so that doesn't work either for at least getting the 5%.
Right now, Discover's quarterly 5% is at grocery stores. If I can find a grocery store that sells Walmart, I figure I could purchase up to $1500 and get 5% back that I could just apply as a statement credit, then turn around and use that to take advantage of the 4.6% discount through Sam's online or one of the other options in-club (I think the $75 gift card is $72, which was the next best percentage, then $145 for $150). I just have had no luck with the first level so far.
I'm considering purchasing a Visa or MC GC - I was looking at the supermarket ones, and they have a $5.95 fee on the ones where you can choose the amount to load from $20 - $500, so the paying a 1.2% fee on a $500 card doesn't seem so bad if I'm getting 5% back from Discover.
Has anyone tried to go down this road? Any luck?
