So I got the Sams offer on my Uber app even though it didn’t show up as it be of the locations(yay!). But now when I go to my Uber app, it won’t show me any of the available places? Does anyone know how to find this again? Thanks!

This happened to me too. I just closed out the app completely and re-opened it. The offers showed up again on the main page.

Gift cards are never returnable for any type of credit except for EXTREME circumstances (i.e. inactivated card).

Wouldn't it be easy to sell them on ebay though, unused, maybe at 95% of their value...?

You wouldn't recover 95% once you paid eBay listing and final value fees and shipping costs.

No, you would not lose it all but why risk any of it? Is a measly 5% savings on your trip worth the effort of trying to recover some of your money back? A lot of people who do this gift card "game" are willing to accept the risks and they have a Plan B in the event that their original plan falls thru. I've gotten "stuck" with eBay GCs and Best Buy GCs when the rug was pulled out from under those deals. There was always a back up plan that got me full value for those GCs. I own DVC and can pay my annual dues with Disney GCs. Even if I don't vacation next year, I still have to pay those dues! The Disney GCs will get used regardless.

But let's say that you decide to list on eBay. You sell a $50 GC for full face value (unlikely to happen) and you offer to send the buyer the GC number and PIN code (so, no shipping costs or charges). The eBay fees would be $5 and PayPal would charge another $1.75. You lose $4.25 on that transaction, which comes to about a 9% loss on your $47.50 investment.

Again, why go into the process of buying GCs at a discount if there is a very real possibility that you would not be able to use them? Find a different pathway, such as credit card travel hacking. At least the CC rewards can be flexible and some premium cards have travel insurance as a benefit for cardholders.

Very helpful & I guess I was searching for my Plan B & Plan C, etc. by gathering all my info ahead of time & planning for worst case scenarios. Now I have my plans & they sound wonderful for a financially stress-free trip AND getting the most (reasonable) bang for my buck. Thanks again everyone for helping me think it all out!

I went on Tuesday last week and got the credit/bonus on Thursday. So probably still holding true.

I went Thursday of last week and got the shopping email yesterday. The 200 shopping SB are now pending but the 750 bonus SB still have not credited.
