Ebay has officially released their terms for the temporarily allowing gift card to gift card purchases:

It is important to note the following: "Gift cards purchased after August 23, 2016, are not eligible for this temporary exemption."

While people have been reporting they were able to use ebay gift cards purchased after August 23 to buy gift cards yesterday, that can change at any moment. So if you plan on trying to do one last churn by converting to ebay and back, take all this into consideration.

Thanks for the heads up. I quickly converted the $500 eBay GC I bought yesterday to BB when I read your post. I'll cash out to Disney when the store opens. Was going to try one more churn before the deal ended tomorrow, but I'll just cash out to Disney in case they stop accepting the new eBay GCs.

But if I can convert the rest I'll probably buy Disney instead if eBay. But just wondering how they have any idea when I bought my eBay gc's. Or if my DD26 used the eBay gc's on her account how would they know she hadn't had them for awhile? Hmm

I had no trouble converting BB GC to Disney yesterday in store. Good luck! It's a great deal

The GCs are activated through eBay's system. If eBay starts enforcing the policy of excluding GCs purchased after 8/23 from this exemption (they haven't so far), I suppose they could just code in to deny new GCs by activation date. And yes, $2k/60 days limits are still in place so that would limit how much you could churn anyway.

Question: If I use BB gift certificates to buy things other than gift cards, do I still get the BB rewards points? We are thinking of upgrading our appliances. If I bought gift cards towards that cost, I was wondering if I get Best Buy rewards points on the amount that is paid with gift cards?

You don't get BB rewards for the amount of your purchases paid for with gift cards, and probably these bonus codes as well. It's not what you buy, but how you pay for it.

My exact thoughts. I used an ebay card I bought last week, so I think it's just there to cover them or to scare people off.

Did my first churn, woohoo! I had an old eBay gift card that I was stuck with after a seller cancelled my transaction on a large ticket item. I was stuck with trying to drain it and it wasn't working too well. Then this churn came! Yesterday I successfully purchased 2 of the BB gift cards ($150 + $15) from PPDG then went to BB and purchased eBay gift cards (loadable, that store had at least 20). Today after a little scare from the change in eBay terms, I successfully purchase SW gift cards using the eBay gift card purchased yesterday. Now I will hurry up and book my flights as to limit the risk of the gift cards being drained. Thank you to everyone who posted about this!

Bought my first visa debit at Kroger and used that (with the pin) to buy Disney. It's only an extra 2.5 percentage points or so for me, but at this point I'll take what I can get.

Did you run it as credit or debit? I'm doing this later today so am curious.

@havaneselover , just so I understand...You buy a Visa debit paying with your Am Exp earning 6% cb, come home register it online as a debit card and then go back to the store and use it to purchase a Disney GC. Doing this all on the 4x fuel rewards, you earn fuel rewards on both the debit card and the Disney card. And this offsets the activation fee on the Visa card?

If you use the pin, you don't need to register it. So I bought a $100 one for $105.95 using my Amex blue preferred and got 424 fuel points. Then used it the next day with the included pin to get another 400 fuel points when I bought a Disney gift card. This works well for me since I probably only need about $200 in Disney per month for my next cruise (2 years away). Otherwise I'd have too many fuel points. I figure this is about a 16.5% discount compared with 14% when I go straight to Disney.

I only use 20 gallons per fill up. Rough calculation--the activation fee is offset by cashback from Amex. 824 fuel points is worth about $16.50 to me.

I was able to get the 10% ebay bucks promo to work this morning. I would have liked to churn through BB one more time, but don't have time to get there before next week and don't want to risk holding on to the ecards that long. I only had 2 $100 ebay cards that I bought at BB two days before ebay changed their terms. I had used $40 from one on a toaster oven last week using best buy on ebay. Today I bought $100 TJ Max gift card for my DD and $50 Olive Garden to eat out the night before we fly out on our next trip! Have $9 left on one of my ebay cards that I am sure I can use eventually on something.
