I have heard mixed reports about the Target debit card & pharmacy rewards working on Disney gift cards in-store. Up until last week I was still getting the discount (tried with just my Target debit for the 5%). Last week was the first time it hasn't worked at my local store. However, I used self check out and I thought maybe that was why.


Going to Target today with a pharmacy reward... wondering if I should try it or wait for Target to restock online. Thoughts?

They stopped allowing the pharmacy rewards to be applied to gift card purchases back in the spring of 2014. That's ANY type of GC, not just Target GCs. The Pharma5 never worked for online GC purchases.

I just applied a 5% discount to a Disney gift card last month. I have the receipt to prove it. Last week was the first time it hasn't worked for me.

Then the cashier must have forced it through for you.

The discount on gift cards for pharmacy rewards was removed last spring. The Target REDCard discount is still in effect.

The pharmacy rewards discount code that you get to use for online purchases has never worked for gift card purchases.

The Disney GCs that I ordered from Target .com on 1/14 arrived today. All 8 of them were activated. I'm breathing a big sigh of relief! I checked the Target website and they still are not back in stock.

On another bright note, I the mail also contained a $100 Target GC that I redeemed CC rewards points for and a Shula's GC that I purchased using the e-gift card I bought for 18% off on Raise. Shula's is located in the S/D and participates in TiW.

I love stacking discounts!

The only way that I know to combine the Disney GCs is to add them to a Disney Vacation Account and then use the account number to make your purchases/payments online or over the phone. You cannot use the DVA at disneystore .com or in person at the parks.

Some people will say that they have had luck by going to a Disney Store and combining them there, but it seems to be hit or miss.

This is very interesting. Has anyone used a gift card specifically from Costco for McCormick & Schmick's at Rainforest Cafe? That is a 20% savings on that gift card.

I have not used that card but they are the same company so I assume they would take it. I have purchased the Wolfgang Puck card from Costco (20% off) and used those at DtD.

What a great idea! I can stack my 20% my 20% TIW on top of that for a great discount .

I just downloaded the Disney gift card app onto my iPhone. It seems like it will be more convenient than trying to keep track of several cards and how much is on each. Has anybody used that app in the parks yet (especially at Disneyland?)

I use the app in WDW and it updates the charges real time, it's great!

My 16 yr old daughter & her lax team are going in march. I would rather her have GC's on an app because I know she will not lose her phone!

No you still need the cards, the app just keeps track of the charges.

I've noticed it crashed more, especially when I go to delete a card. But it's still nice to be able to see the balance without having to call.

Same here. I can add new cards but every time I try to remove a card it freezes up. It worked fine in September when we were at Disneyland but afterwards I started having trouble with it. I sent an email about it last December to the "Contact Us" email listed on the app and received this reply:

"Thank you for contacting us with your inquiry. We are in the process of upgrading the Disney Gift Card app, unfortunately we do not have a time frame for when it will be completed and available. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Sincerely,

Disney Gift Card Guest Service"

A very vague response, so who knows what's going on. We leave for Disneyland on Tuesday so I'll delete the app and reinstall to get rid of the old cards and then enter the new ones. Hopefully it will update the card balances as we use them since it was a great way to keep track of how much is left on the cards.
