Over the weekend, I walked into our local Disney store to inquire about using gift cards to purchase park tickets. The associate told me I could only use 4 cards to buy tickets...due to their cash registers???? Anyone else have this issue? My thought was to purchase cards as I have the cash so that its not such a big hit on the wallet when I have to buy 4 passes all at once.

It's a limitation on the registers that can not accept more than 4 payments per transaction type. I worked there 5 years ago and it was a problem back then. I would have though they would have fixed that by now.

You could buy each pass in a separate transaction.

You might want to look into the savings by buying through undercovertourist, rather than directly through Disney. With UCT the price you see is your cost...with disney, when looking on the site, you have to make sure you account for salestax as well. UCT has free shipping, and you can simply buy them one at a time from them. If you subscribe to the mousesavers e-newsletter, the one that comes out every 15th has a link to a bit more savings over the cost on their site. Subscribe now and you'd likely get the one coming out soon!

Probably a better total cost than buying them from the disney store or online at disneyworld.com...

other suggestion I have is add amount to gift card instead of buying new one. I reload/add to mine all the time. You have to do in store or at parks can't do over phone that i know of.

Thanks for the info...I was thinking about buying cards everytime, but will just keep adding to the one I have. Thanks again.

I had a similar question about using gift cards to buy tickets a few weeks ago and Cheshire told me they fixed the problem when you call that you can use more than 4 gift cards.

A LOT of registers can have this problem. I know a few of the ones I have worked on over the years have, including at my last job. It was rarely an issue and I only remember twice when it became a problem. My guess is that it's not an issue enough to fix things.
