Disney gc use at DTD restuarants

Hi there... not sure if this is the correct spot to post this or not, mods please feel free to move it this if it doesn't belong here.

My inlaws very graciously gave us a generous Disney gift card to use on our upcoming trip to... Universal. They mean well... I think to them anywhere in Orlando IS Disney, and hey, it gives us an excuse to head on over to Downtown Disney and get our Mouse fix since we haven't be to Disney since 2010! SO- I have a couple of ideas brewing as to what we can do with the gift card. One is go to the Poly and eat at Ohana's- our FAVORITE Disney restaurant and maybe even catch Wishes on the beach there. The other is to go to DTD and eat there... not sure if the restaurants there accept Disney gc's though, and also not sure which stores there do... the big one I would need to know about is the Lego store, because there is NO way I'm getting out of DTD alive without stopping there.

Also, and I know this may be forbidden, and if it is please delete/notify me/flog me... BUT if we were to take a cab from our hotel at Universal to either DTD or POLY, would we be able to ride either the monorail (to do a loop through and go ohhh and ahhhh at WDW) or the buses to get from/to DTD and POLY. If this is the worst Disney sin imaginable (other than using reusable mugs from a previous stay...) please accept my sincere apologies for asking. I just had to ask

ETA- any idea on what a cab from Universal to Disney costs?

You don't have to show any park admission or anything else to take the buses or monorail -- have fun!
