Okay, I haven't seen this addressed before. I was just thinking, if you are the winner of this prize, what happens after Disneyland closes for the night? 1. They will have to have staff on hand hanging around somewhere JUST FOR YOU in case you need anything overnight. 2. Are you a prisoner? I mean, you certainly can't go walking out of the gallery and through Disneyland on your own...

Food for thought. They must have some sort of protocol in place for the Castle prize at WDW, that they can implement here? Now that I have thought of this I'm awfully curious to know how this gets handled.

I was wondering the same thing...and how do you get your stuff from your hotel? I'm assuming they give you time to go get it and all, but then do they transport you back so you don't have to lug it all in? And then in the morning, do you have to give up a big chunk of park time hauling everything back to your hotel? :confused3 Do they serve you a free breakfast?

Can you tell I'm a detail person?:lmao:

I guess all of these concerns would pale if I ever won it, though! What a fun opportunity!!!!!!:yay:

I would hope the suite has adequate soundproofing, not only because of all the overnight staff/trucks/blowers/washers around all night, but I'm sure if a couple won, there would be a little Dream Makin' going on inside the suite too.:goodvibes :rolleyes1

Wouldn't that be awesome if you could? Hijacking the Mark Twain for a little midnight cruise...roasting marshmallows on the tiki torches (provided you could get a stick that long)...hiding extra surprises in the graveyard of HM...:rolleyes1

I'd think that they'd give you some sort of breakfast (maybe Mickey's-head beignets since it is New Orleans Square) and some sort of evening snack (hopefully in time to watch Fantasmic from the suite...how cool would that be?:goodvibes ) and I'm sure they'd have a phone installed in case you needed to call maintenance staff or something. Best part would be not having to leave the park at the end of the day.

We went on the Halloween tour tonight and I asked the guide about that. She said that a cast relations person would be stationed outside your door all night and that they would "lock down" the gallery area so you can't get out. So no, no wandering around the park at night, but you would have a great view! She said they are probably going to try to get at least an hour where you could be in the park by yourself.

I think it would be GREAT!

This is too funny! I just posted the same question at noon over on the WDW pages. I noticed your question was posted an hour later - are we on the same wavelength or did you happen to see my question? It's under Theme Park Attractions and Strategies forum and the my question is titled: "If you win the night in the WDW castle (or the new DL apt) - do they lock you in???" I wish I knew how to add a link.

I thought of posting the same thing on the DL boards too but decided to stick with one place.

The replies to my question are pretty interesting, especially since the prize is already available at WDW so there were more details from disboarders. The comments here are also informative. I basically got more info. than I expected.

You know, I'm not lovin' the idea of being "locked down" in a room, even if it is in the heart of Disneyland. (Not that I'm ever going to be confronted with this scenario....)

Maybe I've seen too many horror movies set in deserted amusement parks and have read too many murder mysteries, but the whole set-up seems kinda creepy to me.
:scared1:

Thanks for the replies everyone! Glad others have been pondering this mystery as well.

As much as I love Disney, I would be a bit creeped out by the Lockdown also, LittleWoodenHead!

Nope, Rhonna, I didn't see the question at the WDW boards (I have never been there--to WDW or the boards!--and won't have one second of free time the minute we do start planning our first trip there, since I know NOTHING about it....I have been to Disneyland probably 20 times over my lifetime and know the ins and outs pretty well and I still lurk here getting more tips and tricks! Lord help my family with the laundry and dinner when I start planning the WDW trip!)...

Maybe someone can go dig up that post and post the link here for us lazies. I would like to see more details on how they handle the security. I love the idea that they are planning to perhaps allow some private time inside the closed park...probably no ride going but just a maintenance car ride around the park or something? I'd love to see the inside of a ride being cleaned/repaired with the house lights on...like HM or POTC since they just are right there!

noryglory - Since we are thinking the same thing, we must have been separated at birth - ha! Hope you have a great trip!

bellelinus - thanks for linking the threads. Two for the price of one!
