I am planning on going to Disney this May……was wondering if there should be anything I could look at or speak to prior to planning my "wedding ceremony" since we are already married by civil court. We have lived apart for the last 3 years because of immigration so the process will be done this year and we wanted the wedding that both our families can be a part of. Anywho any advice on how I should start my planning when I go to Disney this may? I will be going with my DD and sister.

I would contact Disney Fairy Tale Weddings/Wedding Planner now. Tell them you'll be there in May and can set up a meeting. When do you plan on having the wedding? People book/plan their weddings way in advance.

If you're looking to have a DFTW you can try to set up a site visit in May when you go. When we planned our 2012 wedding, in order to schedule a site visit/get pencilled in for our wishes wedding, we had to be within 18 months of our date. For escape weddings, you had to be within 12 months.

Currently, for wishes weddings you need to be within 16 months I believe, and 9 months for escape, in order to be pencilled in. You can sign a contract and confirm your date and venues at 1 year for wishes and 8 months for escape. I'm not sure if the reduced timing affects ability to schedule a site visit. But i wouldn't consider these to be "way in advance". Many places allow couples to book further in advance of these timelines, so "way in advance" may be different for the OP.

By all means, call and gather info, but I highly recommend you peruse this site and go invest in the passporter guide to Disney fairy tale weddings (google it - I don't have a link for my phone! :goodvibes) - you will find lots of detailed info that will help you figure out options. You may or may not get to meet with someone on your trip but there are many many locations you can visit in your own and lots of great info you can find in the book- you'll know more than the associate who contacts you! :thumbsup2 happy planning!

I already bought it =) the e-book edition so I can keep downloading the newest edition.

Excellent! I would definitely call them but you may it may not hear from them. Some folks get meetings set up, some don't. We didn't hear from anyone right away ourselves. But I would go to Franck's for sure! And peek into the wedding pavilion if tgere isn't a wedding or rehearsal happening! Also, Carrie herself often points out that many of the venues are easily accessible to the public and you could make yourself a little tour!

How many people will be attending? If it's under 6 (including bride and groom) the memories package can be booked now. We are doing the memories package in May :)

I have a huge family =\. So I'm going to try to stay with 30 guests. Which would put me at wishes which I wanted so I can have it done in the Magic Kingdom swans landing I think it's called.
