Disney freebies on arrival at hotel?

When we went to WDW last year a couple of extra things were listed in the brochure, as All Stars used to be a Virgin Flagship hotel, we got some extras like 2 free refillable mugs, 2 cinema tickets etc. I think these vouchers were received at the airport from our Virgin rep on arival. (So this was a Virgin Holidays promotion.)

Anyway, when we checked in at the hotel there was a nice surprise, we then received some vouchers for pins / Planet Hollywood discount / free golf etc. listed on the US Disney site as extras you get when booking a Magic Your Way Package. So even though we booked through Virgin, it must have been classed as a Magic You Way package for us to get the freebies I think?

Has anyone else expreienced this having booked through Virgin, or was it all to do with All Stars being a flagship property at the time? I understood that you had to make the booking directly with Disney to receive these extras?

Anyway, hope it happens again this year!

We had similar things last year when we went to ASM. 4 refillable mugs, various vouchers including a Leave a Legacy voucher for Epcot which my DD's made use of. All this was left at reception by Virgin the morning after we arrived. Would be nice if they were still doing it.

We've had the freebies each year all, except the first year, booked through virgin. We last went in December 2006 and got nothing, nadda, neite, nulla. I asked them to check and checked with the Virgin rep and was told they just weren't doing it anymore. It was lovely while it lasted though.

That's a real shame, I was hoping for these little gifts to be a regular occurence.

We got a pin each when we booked a package with Disney in 2002

Back in 2004 when we booked through Direct Travel through our local Co-op Travelcare, we stayed at All Star Movies
We received 2 free lanyards with limited edition pin sets and free kid's breakfast every morning of our stay via the vouchers they were using at the time, which were explained by a very friendly senior CM who we saw each day, and it made us feel very welcome at this hotel.
This was so much better than when we stayed at All Star Music hotel where the staff were not as friendly.

Our August trip with Virgin we received free kids breakfast every day, 2 x lanyard and pin set and a free round of mini golf. The breakfast was a virgin offer the rest Disney I think!

August this year I don't think we are getting any freebies, time will tell.
