Disney Free Dining Offer Officially Announced

Its announced here but this is what it is..my question is, can you get this if you have DVC?

Good for most dates August 16 - October 3, 2009. You must book at least a 3 night stay with one day theme park ticket. Immediate deposit is required. Book by June 21, 2009.

Yes and No.

No it does not apply to DVC stays.
Yes you may opt to book a separate, for cash reservation for a package through WDTC and book a DVC resort and you would get free dining.

It is far less expensive to use your points to book DVC and pay OOP for the Dining plan than to book DVC with free dining as a package.

Free dining isn't really free. You need to pay full price for the rooms, meaning a studio would be at least $250 per night. Considering studios run about 12 point per night during that time frame, or $120 @ $10 per point, that is $130 per night more for "free" dining. And we never spend that much on food, even paying out of pocket.

this is very true. There have been times when I've found the AP room discount to be a better deal than the free dining promotion paying rack rate.
