disney for boys

DS is almost 11 now, but he has been a disneyholic since the age of 3. He likes the AK Donald breakfast, now at tusker, and he likes Ohana at dinner because he loves to do the coconut race. We waited until he was 7 for him to do the pirate cruise by himself. He enjoys innoventions as well, and we he has to build a robot at least once a trip. We haven't been since Jedi academy opened up, but he would love it!

Any new ideas that the little men may enjoy? :woohoo: I am thinking visiting Disney Quest, and the Lego store are at the top of my DS's list!

I would suggest the Lego store, the Jedi Training Academy at HS, Pirate tutorial at MK, make your own lightsaber at DTD. My 2 boys loved the Indiana Jones show at HS. Lots of boy characters to meet: Buzz, Woody, Power Rangers. Also the GF pirate adventure.

My boys loved the Pooh characters at Crystal Palace, little one loved Little Einsteins leo/june at H&Vine, chef mickey is good. We avoid all the princess meals, but plenty of others to choose from.

Where is the pirate tutorial at MK? My boys would love that! Also, where do they make the light sabers at DTD? I'm trying to balance out all the girly things the little sisters get to do.

WDW really does need to get with it and do a meal geared towards the boys. Our day at MGM ends up being my son's day. That's when he gets to meet the
Toy Story characters, eat at Pizza Planet, see his idols - The Incredibles. On that day I dress him in his Incredibles shirt, and really make a big deal out of "his day" b/c there is just so much more for girls. We are also doing a breakfast at Ohana's with the traditional characters and one with the Playhouse Disney characters - which is very interactive and he loves!

I heard CRT gives the boys swords. My little guy is really looking forward to that. How old r ur boys? Mine r 2 & 5. my youngest is too little to know much but my 5 yr old cant wait for disney. Good Luck

Where in DTT can you make a lightsaber & how much? thanks

I too would like to know where in DTD you can make the Light Sabers? And also the Pirate tutorial in MK? Never heard of this but would love to do both of these with DGS in September. Great info on this thread. I agree that it would be awesome if they would do a couple of character meals geared for boys. Would love to see if they will come up with something now that Toy Story Mania is open! Buzz and Woody are sure to make a comeback. We would love it as it is DGS favorite movie(s). Always stay at ASMo Toy Story when he travels to Disney with me. He loves Chef Mickey and he did enjoy the Disney story time as we had Aladdin do the story the time we were there. (You get this when you book through AAA) Thanks for posting the thread regarding Pirate Adventure as well. Booked DGS for this at GF as he is really into Pirates this year. He is excited and now I can show him the pictures posted on that thread. Hope Disney will do more for the boys as time goes by. I was talking with a couple friends at work w ho have older boys. Their boys prefer characters from another channel/park and they plan accordingly. I hope this does not happen with DGS as he is truly my travel buddy and I am, and will always be, a Disney World fan through and through!

:wizard: I have 3 boys - They were 1, 5 and 8 when we visited WDW in April 08. We did the Pirates and Princess Party - which DS5 and DS8 LOVED!! They could have cared less about the princesses and focused on the villans, Pirates. met Jsack Sparrow and so on. P&PP was def the top of their list... We also did Chef Mickey's, Crystal Palace, all the testosterone filled things like Space Ranger Spin, Test Track, Star Wars, and all the thrill rides they could handle. DS5 LOVED Stunt cars at DHS. We didnt do DTD thsi time, but def theink its more their speed next visit in 2010 - Lego Land and all the interactive games will def be something they will enjoy!! Dont let all the pink frill and princess costumes fool you - there are many things boys can enjoy... Hopefully there will bemore in the future, but its a good start!!:surfweb:

There is now a "Build Your Own Lightsaber" kiosk open at Once Upon a Toy. Guests can build custom Star Wars lightsabers with thousands of unique possibilities. The experience takes guests through nine steps in which they choose every part of their lightsaber, including the color of the blade, sleeve rings, hilt sleeves and ignition switches. Each lightsaber features authentic Star Wars sound effects, and guests can select colored crystals and filters to cast the legendary glow of the lightsaber blade (purple, green, red or blue). From the start, guests opt for a Jedi or Sith lightsaber, with bins of custom parts available for each order. Guests can create their very own design or follow instructions to replicate lightsabers used by such favorite Star Wars characters as Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader. Each electronic lightsaber features specialized lights, sounds and vibrations. Once complete, guests proceed to checkout where they receive batteries to power up their creation and a store-exclusive Jedi or Sith pin. No matter how elaborate the design -- guests can even create the double-bladed lightsaber like the one made famous by the evil Sith apprentice, Darth Maul -- each completed lightsaber is $19.95.

Not sure. They really need to come out with a toy story character meal. They could have woody, buzz, bo beep, a green army guy, and even bullseye!

Here is some info from the Steve Soars Live Entertainment site:

Captain Jack Sparrow’s Pirate Tutorial
There are pirates among us! And they're looking to recruit. None other than Captain Jack Sparrow's first mate, Mack, is searching out brave souls who dream of a pirate's life. Can you swing a sword, sail the seas, and spot a cursed treasure before you plunder it? Maybe Captain Sparrow will even let you take the Pirate Oath and join his crew.
Daily at 10:15 & 11:20am, 12:25, 2:15, 3:20 & 4:25pm

Buzz Lightyear at MK and TSM are a huge hit. Also did Indy Speedway and Goofy Barnstormer several times.

I totally understand not wanting to send DS5 on the Pirate Cruise by himself, but it might be possible to arrange to have him paired up with one of the CMs, if this is something he really wants to do. When my boys were on the cuise in June there was a boy who looked to be about 5 who was by himself, who was paired up with one of the 2 CMs who was on the boat. I don't know if that was something the parents had prearranged or not, but the CM was great with him and he seemed to love the idea of being her paired. I know that it would make me feel much better if I was sending my child by himself to have him paired with an adult.

maybe have them go fishing? disney offers fishing trips on a pontoon etc. Or you can visit some resorts and fish there, i think there is a litte fishing hole at POR.

there are some great activities at Ft Wilderness- horseback riding, canoeing etc.

We are doing the H&V breakst for the little ones, boys and girls. We usually do chef mickey's, since it is mickey etc. and we usually do Crystal palace which is pooh at least.

there is a steam engine/train tour you can do, but not sure the age requirement on it at the MK.
